Numerous shadertweaks see description reshade smaa, lumasharpen and tonemap also optional ao (ambient occlusion)
The saying goes there are many ways to Rome in this
game quite literally and figuratively when it comes
to modding this game.
Basically this mod shifts the color palette, reduces
the quite pronounced darkness gamma wise and adds a
little sharpening in the mix this is based on an unmodded
game so if you are using other mods that alter the light
or weather you might not get quite the same effect as shown
in the screenshots.
- from version 1.38 scs added an internal implementation of ssao
- the ssao described in this mod can be used for 1.37 if needed.
Optionally you can add ao (ambient occlusion) see install
for more information however take note....
Example screenshots contain AO (ambient occlusion) this is applied by
a slightly tweaked reshade shader made by Pascal Matthäus aka Euda.
Plus the screenshots, at least try, to show the side effects
- bleeding through external extra mirrors.
- ambient occlusion in reflections road when raining
mostly noticeable in chase cam.
- ambient occlusion in reflections floor truck browser in menu
- adds quite a lot to the gpu usage ~25%
So think carefully about adding this option.
If you do not like specific tweaks please see 'further tweaking'
for disabling specific shader tweaks.
- altered reshade tonemap preserves contrast a bit better
- no 3dmigoto tweaks were altered
(see new tonemap screenshots for an impression)
3dmigoto shader tweaks:
- reduce intensity sun shafts
- increase light lower hemisphere night also in cabin
- global illumination and shadows increase light sun direction
- blur shadows
- sky dome increase presence night and day
- decrease density fog horizon land night and day
An option B of this package contains *only* shaderfixes
please use this version if you do not like the reshade tweaks.
The reshade package has customized shaders it is not advisable to mix and match.
Copy the contents of the zip file to the install folder of
euro truck simulator 2, the folder which contains eurotrucks2.exe
with exception of the folders:
If you want to try the ambient occlusion (ao) copy
the 'ReShade.ini' in the folder to the install folder
of euro truck simulator 2, the folder which contains eurotrucks2.exe
The following instructions are only needed
if you do not like using unverified dll's you can:
download 3dmigoto from:
download version 1.3.16 and place the following dlls in the install dir of
euro truck simulator 2:
then copy `d3dx.ini, ShaderCache and ShaderFixes from the zip file to the same dir aka folder.
download reshade from
install *only* dxgi.dll (64bits) to the install dir aka folder of euro truck simulator 2.
Then copy the reshade folder plus ReShade.ini and dxgi.ini
from the package to the install dir of euro truck simulator 2.
After running the game the folder ShaderFixes should contain the .bin versions:
This means that the file(s) .txt have been compiled by 3dmigoto (d3d11.dll)
Press 'F1' in game to toggle reshade shaders on or off
or press 'shift F2' and use reshades gui to toggle
shaders of. Toglling originalbeforesplit and splitscreen_tech
on gives a vertical splitscreen (right side shaders on left
side shaders of) also you can toggle ambient occlusion
by selecting ssdo on or off.
Tested with file version 1.37 of euro truck simulator 2
on win 7 / nvidia 1050gtx ti
See screenshot for settings game.
reshade / 3dmigoto gpu usage 1080p@ ~60fps
without - clock 974hz gpu usage ~40%
with - clock 974hz gpu usage ~52%
approximately 12% increase (1050gtx ti on win 7)
max gpu: 1772Mhz gpu usage 100%
*) Game is capped to 60.7 with fast sync through nvidia inpsector
**)reshade ao adds roughly 25% when switched on
- further tweaking
If you like you can compare the modified shader, ShaderCache contains
the original shader, to alter values.
To disable specific tweaks open the shader from
the folder 'shaderfixes' with a text editor example:
Has a remark on the top line:
// decrease density fog horizon land
So if you do not want that to happen
remove the shader from the folder 'shaderfixes'
and if compiled remove:
then restart the game.
All shaders <shadernumber>ps_replace.txt have
a similar descriptive remark.
Start the game with an other homedir location.
Create a shortcut (.lnk) with your file explorer and modify
the properties to:
"<instal dir game>\bin\win_x64\eurotrucks2.exe" -homedir "<instaldir game>"
"G:\games\euro truck simulator 2\bin\win_x64\eurotrucks2.exe" -homedir "G:\games\euro truck simulator 2"
After starting the game a new folder will be created called
'Euro Truck Simulator 2'
or you can copy the old 'Euro Truck Simulator 2' to the new location.
