Hey everyone following CoL or not following, I finally got some motivation to write an article after a long time
Just today I realized that I have let Conquest of Life to fall to the second page of mods. I do not mean that in a way that this mod must be in the first place all the time like some mods seem to, but rather that I have not updated this mod in a long time. I have been struggling a ton with my motivation as some of you might know already, and therefore there was really nothing to update about. However, now I am here writing about the future of this mod and the future of myself.
The mod is not and will not be cancelled. No matter what happens it will be finished. I will jump to the Moon or walk through a boulder, but the mod will be released. Despite the state of the community as it is now, (the community of which my thoughts are purely negative at this exact point..) I have not given up.
Why?
Because I know that there are a few people who actually try their everything to keep the flame of the community lit to the last sparkle. I will put my two cents by finishing the mod I have started over a year ago now (holy **** actually, it is been so long already). My dream when I was a little Shyrtexx in 2012 was to create a good custom story. I have made two custom stories already, not being satisfied with either of them though. Deep inside me I know that I want to finish it, and I know that there are people who care about this project. I promised myself to make a good custom story and promises are meant to be kept. This is no exception.
TL;DR: The mod is alive and will be continued soon.
Upcoming and/or already included features:
- I have decided to include four (4) endings to the mod. As cliché as it will be, there will be a good ending, a bad ending and interestingly the worst ending too. The fourth and hidden ending will not be spoiled here.
- The hidden book feature from The Chosen Ones will be included in Conquest of Life too. However, this time it will be slightly different. There is no predetermined amount of books (but obviously there will be a maximum amount). Practically, the message when you pick up a book will be called "Xst/nd/rd/th hidden book found" instead of "x/x hidden books found. Also, rather than being empty books and bland and boring, each of them will have some text included. The texts will be some references to my previous mods or simply other custom stories. The most determined Amnesia custom story fan will surely understand all the references :P. Also, a little lore will be included. The lore is about the history of the Quencey mansion where the mod is set. There will be a "book series" about the history and each book contains a small bit of text. Together combined, they will make up for a full "article".
- Voice acted story
- A new way to give scary pressure to the player. No spoilers at all now :P
- Lots of minor easter eggs/secrets
I will be working on the mod now and you can expect to get to see a few new pictures soon.

This custom story has been in my modwatch list for a while now, and I am so glad you haven't given up on it. It seems quite common nowadays that modmakers quickly or eventually give up on what looks to be really promising mods (not that I blame them usually, the Amnesia community is RAPIDLY diminishing & the people are quite rude sometimes, its very discouraging, especially for those of us still invested in it). Anyway, proud of you for deciding to finish it, whether you really want to or not! Finishing a project as big as this takes motivation and determination and good support from friends & fans. It really does look great, and I am so excited for this mod. Good luck with it, and I can't wait to see more!
(Also I love finding easter eggs & references in games, so I'm hella excited about that)
You could not be more correct, the community is what it is but I will remain. Glad to hear such a nice words! This means a world to me that there are people actually caring about some of the mods. And same here, most of the references I am planning to include will be from other custom stories.
