A brief look at the 2nd demo and what will be coming next!

Posted by on

After a long time, it finally arrived! TRRP second demo!

First of all, I would like to acknowledge some facts:
1. This demo is far from perfect. There will be probably quite some bugs I couldn't find, but it is what it is.
I trust you guys to find them and report them back to me and if there's any game-breaking one I'll do a fix asap!
2. I know some animations and models are clunky. But I can do nothing more for my budget right now ( most of it is money out of my own pocket by the way... )
3. For an unknown reason, the User-Interface doesn't scale with some resolutions. To fix this, choose the
maximum one and play windowed and resize it with the mouse!

Second, I hope you'll be understanding with my work and help me with some constructive criticism!
So, here we go! Link: Drive.google.com

What next?
I'll be continuing work on the 2nd map. The Great River is far from finished.
Next in line after it, the Golden Woodlands!

When will be the next demo, and what changes will it bring?
I don't know when I will release it. My schedule is quite full as it is and
I cannot give you a date. In the next demo I would like to totally finish the
interface as well as the character customization (more options) , alongside one or two SCRIPTED quests!

That's it for today, folks! May the Gods be with you!

Well a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!
I'm pretty sure Professor Tolkien would be proud of our community :)

Awesome! I wonder can I open it in linux somewhat :D

Edit: Hey Mike, I tried to open it on linux but it gives an error about debugger, which you can see here: Media.moddb.com

When I try to open it directly (without konsole or a terminator program) this time wine gives prefix error: Media.moddb.com

Some more information: I use Debian, it must be a version from LXDE.

Have a happy day.

Seems like a good proof of concept. Well done so far!
How do you see things moving forward? Not as an end product, but maybe a first alpha/beta.
I could imagine you having fun creating all of these scenes from the LotR that you want, letting the player advance one location at a time. So they'd be completing a set of quests to advance to the next.
This seems like a really good way to lay a foundation down, and from there work on mechanics, rpg elements, branching story, and whatnot. I am no game designer, but I do feel like the main attraction is seeing all of the iconic scenes we know and love.

I'm gonna talk about this in a future article, because there's simply too much to say in a comment ;)
