We've been a bit quiet lately. As we're not actively taking part in ModDB's 2008 awards, it seemed a good idea to keep a low profile and let the attention go where the attention was needed, namely to the mods competing for this year's prizes. However we have not been idle, and with the second half of Season 4 about to go on the air, it is time to let you know what we've been up to. Or rather, to show you:
That's the very first Diaspora trailer, and definitely not the last. Everything you see there is in-game footage, and though several of the models and effects are still in the placeholder stage it should be at least a decent indication of how the game will eventually look. Granted, there is a bunch of stuff this trailer doesn't show, but then you'll just have to wait for trailer #2... coming soon to a screen near you.
Of course, shooting video isn't all we've been doing lately. If you compare the ships in the video with the earlier news post detailing our available ships at the time (https://www.indiedb.com/games/diaspora/news/our-rag-tag-fleet ), you will see that there has been a rather notable addition to the fleet since then. Namely the Battlestar Pegasus. Progress is being made with other ships as well, though as yet no WIPs are as impressive as The Beast.
On the music front, our composers MaX and Flipside have created quite a few tracks by now, including the one used in the trailer, while one the art side StarSlayer has been cranking out concept drawings like a madman to fill out any percieved gaps in the Cylon or Colonial fleets. And of course, as always we have been steadily adding more multiplayer missions to the game, while work on the main campaign continues.
Epic and Beautiful

Awesome work. Is it possible to watch this trailer in HD?
Yes, you can download the high res version from our website: Diaspora-game.com
Thank you.
NICE. I especially liked when the Basestar jumped in.
I have to post again, I just watched both videos in 720p and I am amazed at the detail on the larger ships like the Pegasus and Galactica... the planets and other models and textures.. mind blowing... very much looking forward to playing this one...
