It has been a great year. New people, new games, and new goals. It has been so long since I first started creating ESCaPE. Now, I will talk with you about the past of ESCaPE. Maybe even before ESCaPE was made.

It has been a great year. New people, new games, and new goals. It has been so long since I first started creating ESCaPE. Now, I will talk with you about the past of ESCaPE. Maybe even before ESCaPE was made. So grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and enjoy the ride.

I think it was 2013 when I started using the Unity engine. And let me tell you:
I was SUPER confused. But then I learned the basics of Unity myself, by exploring what it can do, and mostly because I experimented with it. Then I created my first game. The game had a third person controller walking around on a cube, with 3D text (I can't remember what it said..). I had to admit, I was kinda proud of myself. Now, I don't see a reason why I would be proud, but back then I did.

After that single day, I kept on making games, and I kept getting better at using Unity as I made each game. Finally, after all those stupid games, I actually made some decent games in 2014. One was a Minecraft clone, another was a space game, and I made another game. It was a puzzle game, where you had a special weapon that let you pick up objects, and throw them around.

After that, ESCaPE came.

I was talking to friends about how I just got Adobe After Effects, then I told them about a game I was making. I can't remember much, but I did know it was a weird idea. A few days after, We were having lunch, and I just got an idea.

Originally, There was one monster, and you were in a cafeteria, a closed one. You had to escape before time ran out and the monster got you. Though, It never got past the concept stage. That was when I scrapped everything but one item from the concept: The monster.

I thought about how the game would be easy with one monster, so I added another monster. Later, I drew lots more. I put monsters, only because of the idea earlier, and, a drawing.

After that, I took a break. One day, I went to a supermarket to buy food for the house I lived in. The supermarket was Food Lion, specifically. While I was shopping, I looked around, thinking about how to connect this with my game. Then it hit me. I wanted to change the cafeteria in the game idea to a shut down supermarket.

After the game was finished, I released it on Thanksgiving 2014. Not much people saw it. But then, videos popped up and the game gradually became seen by more people.

On December 2014, something astonishing happened. I wanted to make a sequel to ESCaPE, A better game. I released it before Christmas, and just one day after, It already had 2 videos on YouTube, and 20 downloads on GameJolt. I was surprised, and happy at the same time.

Ever since that day, I have wanted to thank you all. Every one of you. Making games, can cause stress, take time, and even almost break relationships. It just gets worse if you are the only one making it.
But, I made it. And, to me, it was a success, for my first game released on an indie game website.

So, I just want to thank you all for this fantastic year I've had with you guys. In fact, I think you deserve something... something early. That will be next year, though. It is crazy how much I've accomplished, And you were there to help. I finally had a hobby. All I want is to have fun with friends and family, And I've done that well. So, thank you. And have a great new year.
