The final beta is upon us! Those of you who pre-ordered it on Itch.io, you should be able to retrieve your Steam key at some point today to try out the Steam beta. The final beta is upon us! Those of you who pre-ordered it on Itch.io, you should be able to retrieve your Steam key at some point today to try out the Steam beta. This key should also turn into your final version key. Everyone else can head over to our BitBucket page to download the final beta now! And speaking of the final beta, here is the change log:

Version 0.4.0 Acid - Final Beta

  • Added: achievements
  • Added: tooltips to statistics
  • Added: randomized event where you lose money, drugs, or your weapon
  • Added: randomized event where you find lost money, drugs, or weapons
  • Added: various endings, how many times experienced, and globals to stats
  • Added: random increase/decrease in drug prices
  • Added: dealing amount turns red if you don't have enough money or space
  • Added: Salesman who sells you backpack upgrades
  • Added: a LOT more old lady dialog, for real
  • Added: debt increases each day
  • Added: hooks for player to be drugged (watch out!)
  • Added: space key to dialog progression (hit space for next message)
  • Added: additional music tracks for city and special locations
  • Changed: made the HUD text slightly more visible on light backgrounds
  • Changed: various script layouts for, hopefully, increased performance
  • Changed: database structure for housing lost/found things
  • Changed: 'Perfecting Savagery' achievement from needing $25,000 to $15,000
  • Changed: combat victory spoils to reflect larger inventory space
  • Fixed: pause buttons not working in some areas (weren't connected?!)
  • Fixed: glitch where you can pay off your loan repeatedly even after it is paid
  • Fixed: spelling of Schorf in transit script
  • Fixed: displaying correct number of days in IOU interface
  • Fixed: glitch where changing drug while amount is entered doesn't change total cost
  • Fixed: small glitch where changing from buy/sell after amount is entered doesn't reflect correctly
  • Fixed: issue where logging out doesn't unset menu message
  • Fixed: achievement popping up incorrectly
  • Fixed: old lady conversation not progressing when ENTER is pressed
  • Fixed: salesman conversation not progressing when pressing 1, 2, 3 to process choice
  • Fixed: salesman graphic
  • Fixed: combat victory spoils not being counted toward total or sessions data

We do recommend that people delete their old save files! This may cause the game to crash! If you are using Windows, your save should be at: C:\users\<username>\AppData\Godot\userfiles\The Dope Game Beta\ If you are using Linux, your save should be at: /home/<username>/.godot/userfiles/The Dope Game BetaIf you are using Mac... we have no idea where those are!

Bug Reporting
As usual, please e-mail us bugs, comment in this post, or head over to our Steam community page for The Dope Game and report there. Whatever works best for you. Please try to be clear about the issue you run into!

Pre-Orders
We aren't totally sure if the game page on Steam will be up before release but if it is, you may be able to pre-purchase a Steam copy then. Otherwise, you can head over to Itch.io and get one there. The Itch copy should come with a Steam key.
