Steam Marines had a few minor (and one not so minor!) bugs that have been patched!
- Fixed dead characters not staying dead.
- Fixed sprite swapping in follow mode.
- Fixed character names not appearing in the side panel.
Thanks to the big show of support - I had a huge influx of bug reports and suggestions over the last two days! Also, special thanks to WelshPixie and CaptainKraft, two YouTubers who played and talked a little about Steam Marines!
You can download the newest builds on SteamMarines.com or the Steam Marine Forums.
Yay! Fixed! But i forgot some stuff last time i reported to you guys:
+ When you're in the title screen, pressing enter, well, it get's intersting. basically, it crashes. Not like someone running into a pole or something, i'm talking about a B-52 crashing into a nuclear power plant level crash.
+ I had an idea you guys might like to consider later: Mines. These could be items that you can pick up, and use at any time to place a mine on the ground, beneath the user. These mines would be detonated when an enemy walks upon them, as mines tend to do, dealing damage in a radius.
Good work, Carry on.
Hey BaronVengeous,
Mines are already in the game in a sense - the Leader class talent "Dummy Suit" acts as a mine/boobytrap. I'll be shuffling talents, though, so making them items usable by anyone is an interesting idea.
The enter (end turn) bug on main menu is very odd. Input controls are filtered such that enter should do nothing on the main menu. I'll look into it.
Thanks again for the consistently great feedback!
are talents in the game yet? In the screenshots you have here, the 8 or whatever buttons down the bottom look interesting, which i assume include talents, but I don't have them when I run the game? Is this a bug, or an accident, or perhaps they just aren't in-game yet?
Hey BaronVengeous,
When a squad member levels up he gets a talent point which he can then spend on various talents (only the first two classes, Leader and Scout, are in v0.5.8.1a). Pressing 'p' will toggle the Promotion window for those classes.
The Promotions are organized in eight rows with two talents each, the idea being you should only pick one (Bug: Picking the left talents will override the right but not vice versa). Most talents require multiple talent points to acquire. There is no requirement for a talent beyond the talent point cost (e.g. you may skip the first few and pick a higher cost talent if you wish). Talents you get immediately appear on that character's talent bar.
There's also some discussion about talents over at the forums: Worthlessbums.com
:O! I can't belive i hadn't found that before! Ok, i love this game even more now!
