Post news Report RSS Steam & Desura united peacefully...

Yes, Into the Dark has been sold on Steam for almost a month now. However, we haven´t forgotten our dear Desura customers.

Into the Dark went Into the Steam on 1st of May...

..and sparked quite some tensions there. People confused it with another attempt to sell a game as funny because it´s broken beyond repair. However, the confusion soon disappeared, and today almost 80% of all steam customers recommend the game in the review section (my own not included) on Steam.

Hurray for boobies!

Boobies were not the only stuff we had to censor on the Steam Store Page (not in the game, it´s uncut like it was before!)

So, what is the change from the Trash Game of the Year edition we launched on Desura a year ago?

  • A totally new post-processing pipeline unifying a subtle motion blur, sharpening-on-focus and bloom/HDR
  • new surface shaders depending on the material class (wood, metal, marble, paper...)
  • new textures
  • new bad jokes and gag posters
  • Re-recorded voice overs
  • Soundtrack officially featuring Nox Arcana
  • Oculus Rift support (experimental)

Of course we haven´t changed the basic punchline for the proper Into the Dark experience...

"You don´t have to be drunk as Pete to enjoy the game. But it certainly helps!"

If you have bought the game here on Desura, don´t despair:

  1. We are handing out free steam keys to people who have bought the game on Desura on request. People who have bought the game via one of the bundle promotions are NOT entitled to claim a free steam key, however, on a case-to-case base, we may still give you a press key. Contact us for details here via PM.
  2. We have uploaded a first UNIFIED version into the Desura Client version here. So if you run Into the Dark via client installation, it should already have performed a major update. The first testruns were promising, however, we cannot guarantee that it will work flawless, please report all bugs into our IndieDB Forums. The unified version is the same like the steam version except some ragdolling routines and the Steam achievements (of course).

For us, this is also some kind of farewell, as this was our last major release with FPSC classic. Right now we are working on Into the Ice - Nazis of Neuschwabenland, but there we have already moved onto newer engines.

Thanks to all of you for your support!
