These days on the social web, getting people to "digg" "retweet" and "facebook like" your posts is becoming increasingly important. It helps spread information among friends via word of mouth, which is the best kind of promotion you can receive. To help you utilize the power of the social web, we have just made it super easy to embed social buttons into your news posts. For example we recently launched IndieDB the most super awesome indie games site in the world so to help promote that launch we could have embedded all of the following social buttons (test em out, they work).
To add these buttons, we simply included the following code in our post (please note that to make these icons show in a neat manner, we recommend you wrap floated divs around them):
[facebook=https://www.indiedb.com]
[digg=https://www.indiedb.com]
[reddit=https://www.indiedb.com]
[google=https://www.indiedb.com]
[twitter=https://www.indiedb.com]
Or to make it even easier, just include this code which will pick and show the most popular social icons in a line floated to the left:
[promoall=https://www.indiedb.com]
Let us know if we are missing any important social share buttons, otherwise give these icons a shot when you have big news you want people to spread socially. Just remember not to overuse this feature, reserve it for the big ticket news items.
Finally, for those who like simpler static social icons, we have made a bunch which you are free to use here, or on your homepage and blogs (these are for Desura, IndieDB and ModDB - use them to link to your game/mod profile from your game/mod homepage).
Here are other icons you can use:
Quite useful, thanks ;)
Sweet deal, thanks Scott.
Worth noting is that Iiro Jäppinen made the original version of those social icons (FB, YT, Steam, Twitt, ModDB). Iirojappinen.com
Awesome stuff dudes, I hope people start using this! :)
Great point, he did a fantastic job too - they are widely used now.
Really cool man!
Thanks!
Awesome. :$
hax, I used them befureee
Code? Yeah I'm probably not going to bother doing that.
Not even a single line of code? You can manage one.. surely? lol
thanks alot!
That's a really great news =)
Very useful, thx a bunch :)
Cool, TY
Just what I needed for our team project..THX
Funny, as soon as I tweeted using this and @Moddb I was instantly followed by like 7 bots.
That's twitter for you, i wonder how many followers everyone has if you removed the bots from the equation?
I wish we had the equation for that, or it's better left unknown (probably in the negatives in terms of followers).
Thanks! I've been linking to ones I created in my Dropbox account. This should free up some bandwidth.
Nice ;]
good stuff
I've always been a big fan of the Desura logo. It's very clean and professional, especially when in black and blue.
Does anyone know where I can find a high-res logo for ModDB? When I say high I mean suitable for 120+ px, preferably semi-transparent png if I'm being picky.
EDIT: I'm not looking for the usual ModBD text logo, rather the spanner one but in a larger resolution please.
