Hello ModDB readers.
Let me get this out of the way. This will be our last "official" news post. The profile will not be updated from here-on-out.
I have become increasingly stressed by University, real life and other various stresses. it has come to the point that I have decided to step down from ModDB, and open article submission to the community.
I have run this page for nearly 3 years, and in that time, we have kept Minecraft in the top 10 (usually #1!), we have kept the page updated to the very second, and have even won the IndieDB awards, which got Cake into the game.
So, please know that I have not taken this decision lightly. I have been unsure if I should stop this page for many months.
I "hired" Warner to, in time, potentially take my place. Unfortunately, he too has university, which I of all people understand. So, there will be no more official news.
I have notified Mojang, and they have acknowledged this change, and hope the community can keep the page up to date, as do I.
I will be remaining in the Mojang group, so I am able to handle any extreme issues that you guys have. If you have any issues in future, be it massive spam attacks, a large comment war or phishing, I will happily sweep in and delete the appropriate comments or content. but I will no longer be updating the page.
I hope you all enjoy Minecraft as we have. Especially the cake, which you all made a reality.

Could always find some one without university, Minecraft is mostly a younger playerbase.

I have tried. Warner was my attempt, far back when I asked. He was nearly the only one to come forward.
If you are really that desperate, I could try to. If you want.
The page will be open to users, so you could continue there. other than that, this post takes a lot of effort. ModDB news posts have particular formats and layouts, sourcing, comment moderating, checking the Mojang twitter feeds for any new image snapshots etc. etc.
It is quite the task! not something to be taken lightly. unless someone has a lot of time and dediction to Minecraft, they'll easily get bogged down.
I have both, but it's up to you. Good luck and all.
tbh, I don't think I'd /want/ to pass on this burden. I tried, but the last guy, eager to take it on, got bogged gown fairly quickly. and that's someone who put themselves up to do it eagerly!
still, thank you very much! if you want, you can update the news when I lift the posting restrictions on the 6th. that'd help immensely

yes, and no.
you will have the karma system to hide horrible/spam comments, and you can report any unrelated articles/downloads.
you can also comment on them, saying they're spam/unrelated, and urging others to report it.
with that, I hope the community can self-moderate effectively. I should probably post some of these tops as a "news post" somewhere, and then leave a big link on the front page, probably below the community section.
Righto, hopefully some time you can choose a new admin or something, if it gets bad.
If someone on here consistently contributes the Mojang news updates in the coming weeks/months, I will be inclined to offer it to them probably.

unlikely. Minecraft itself has lost it's charm for me. no modding support. even from when this page was made to now, there were mods. yet, there is still no modding support.

Are you at least going to appoint some moderators to cut down on the quantity of spam that will likely arise?
I mean the increase in it, not any massive spam attack.
If someone comes forward/posts lots of official Mojang posts, I will allow them to take control, if they'd like.
