Post news RSS Red Alliance Update 52 with new AI system

It has been a long time since the last update, I am sorry about that I was on holidays, but now I am back, bringing you guys, so many new things! I have got the new AI system, new weapons, new textures, new improved boss level, and a lot more! Hope you guys will like this update!

In this update I demonstrate the brand new AI system with Unity's built in path finding, the AI is also using Locomotion system, making the character behave in a very realistic way which is awesome. The AI is also a lot smarter now. Also I demonstrate the new weapon, the new textures, the improved boss level and a lot more!

Nice video. I really would encourage you to work out the gunfights and the overall atmossphere. Metro never had any Zombies nor Army Soldiers from America. I know it's all wip, but please keep that in mind. Also, I think it's better to leave out those bullets or replace them with something else. And get the sences a dark and gritty lightning.

Bro, I think he's simply taken the American Soldier from the demo that comes with Unity 3 as a placeholder. This IS a work in progress and a school project. He's done more with this bad jackson than most people on here, and that warrants a high five, not a face palm. Everyone's a critic, but there seems to be too much criticism these days. Praise is to be given. If this guy is doing the same stuff in 2 years, then perhaps he needs some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. This game is not Half Life, nor Metro, but a work that has been INSPIRED by them, so let the man do what he does and let's just see what happens with it, shall we?

Yep, I mentioned that it was wip. I didn't ether critize him, just tryed to point out, why both Half-Life and Metro have some good feel to play. So before you come around, call someone a bro, L2Read.

I would like to also add, that this is not part of school project anymore, the school project was given in some time ago, and what I am doing now is just carrying on creating the game.My whole plot of the game is mainly about killing zombies, but killing soldiers is also an important moment, because they are opposing force, they are trying to get something too. So they are player's enemies. The reason why they are American and not someone else is because making enemies as terrorists or someone else would be too banal, since those are over used. Americans on the other hand, are barely ever used as enemies, so in my game, making them as enemies is something new. But in Multiplayer, Americans will also be one of the playable sides.

thanks for this new movie update, as always, everything looks really well.
in the beginning you showed us that friendly AI (that one zombie with gun). i really do hope you will make this a real SP game, meaning, that the player is alone and doesn't have team members that fight with him. we see it more and more that fps games these days have even in SP mode friendly bots fighting with him. personally i HATE this, i like SP and never play MP, it's not my kind of game mode.

so, hopefully you will leave friendly team members out of your game, or, when you really want to have them in then please give the player a option of killing them or leaving them behind.

There are two ways to do friendly bots in sp:
The "replacable" way, aka CoD, MoH or Bf. Someone dies, new guy spawns out of sight,so your "group" never gets low on people. That is bad, as you stated it above.
And the "companion" way, like Bourbon/Khan in Metro, they'll fight with you, but mainly they are there to bring on the plot, adventure and talk with you. They have a personal record, like any good npc has.

Yeah thanks for suggestions. I think I will implement the second way, the characters with the plot.

I will leave the friendly AI in the game, but make them appear in storyline only couple of times, and yes, killing them will be an option, which would be evil though.

hahaha, evil or not, then they just shouldn't be there at my side, lol.

no really, i hate friendly bots, although i do understand that they sometimes are needed to tell a story. When i need them in a mod of mine i make them walk different paths, (for instance of a different catwalk), they only appear when needed for the story for instance. And then they walk on, out of side again. You can't keep doing this, so sometimes they have to walk with you as player, but then i make them hide all the time and not really fire. And if they fire, they hardly can kill anything.
