Finally, the update is out!

Everything works nice so far, except... I Shift+Right-Clicked an anvil. No bueno, instant crash. Right before the crash you can hear the sound of you character stashing the anvil in his inventory. I don't know if you actually can pick up anvils, but either way this is a legit bug that needs a fixin'.

The crash seems to be evil, the game won't fire up again. So here be a warnin' folks, DON'T Shift-Click an anvil!

Give me a minute while I go find an anvil... This could be an issue.

Well k, the game is officially braindead for me. I treid everything to revive it, a reboot, redownloading the game, manually killing the braindead remnants and redownloading everything again... won't work. Whatever this evil anvil did, Claustrophobia is braindead for me. I say "braindead" because the process is actually running, since I can see it in the Task Manager. However, the GUI won't show up, rendering the game unfunctional, hence the "Braindead".

Are the other locations where the game saves some settings/ user data? Could be a problem with those.

Yes, there is, but I'm not sure how the anvils would have got to them. Go to Documents > Saved Games > Claustrophobia, and move all the contents somewhere else for the time being, then try running the game again.

Yeah, that did the trick! The "Evil Anvil" ( I will continiue to call it that since I have grown accustomed to it) corrupted the game settings. Thanks for the info, the game works proper again. gladly I have no save files since I started the game today for the first time on my tower ( the past few days the game resided on my laptop).

I have to say, you're some pretty competent guy. Quick to reply and straight to the point. I'm looking forward to discover and vanquish more bugs with you. So again, thanks.

Interesting. The control those anvils have over the data files scares me. They must be stopped before they become too powerful. But anyway.
Apologies for that, during alpha things like that may crop up from time to time. I will be much more careful in the future.
Thank you for that. I will always try my hardest to reply to everything posted, and especially if its a bug. After all, its player input that will make this as good a game as it can be :)

Right so this does appear to be a rather nasty bug, I've fixed it now, and will deploy a quick bugfix patch within the next few hours.

I'm not sure why it would break the whole game though? Where is the crash occuring?

Ok, now I found something new. The game won't fire up once the settings exist in the first place! I always have to kill the settings-files everytime I want to start the game, otherwise the GUI won't show up and the sound won't play either.

In other words: The user settings seem generally corrupted in regards of the GUI and sound. The anvil didn't have that power over the game files, they seem to corrupt themselves.

Thats really wierd, I have no problem with those files and neither do any of my testers. Could you delete the whole Claustrophobia folder from Saved Games, then reinstall the game on Desura? The only thing I can think is that moving the setting files around has damaged the .exe in some way.

Reinstalled the game after deleting user files. Sadly, the game still refuses to start while user settings exist. The first startup is always successful, all other startups don't work anymore until the user files are deleted. The process starts, lasts for the duration of the splash screen (the "TheIndieForgo" Logo shown at the beginning) and terminates itself right after.

System Preferences:
Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 64-Bit Edition
AMD FX-8120 Eight Core Processor
AMD Radeon 6700 Series (specific chipset unknown)
8 GB DDR 3 RAM

If my antivirus is to blame (avast! free antivirus), then this could be a problem, since it seems to not block anything regarding the game (at least it doesn't tell me).

I will run the game in its current state on my laptop to see if this error prevails.

Nope, this is infact another bug, and I've found the problem. Bizarrely enough, my build of the game had fixed itself, but the deployed version was bugging out when trying to read the data files.
Deploying second quickfix of the night!

The game works fine on my laptop, so the error does not occur on every system. If this quick bugfix can help fix the problem on my tower, it should prevent additional lockups for other users.

Should be fixed now, let me know :)

It works!

Well, the "Continue Game" option stays grayed out even if a saved game exists, but this is only a graphical issue since the function works as intended.

Now all I need to enjoy it on my tower without changing my resolution is an option to change the in-game resolution or set it to fullscreen mode.

Another bug fixed! Thanks for the quick fix.

Ah alright I'll fix the Continue. Resolution options will arrive as soon as I have the options menu up and running.

When you open and close a door, you can shoot (bow/crosscow) crates and barrels in the fog of war area. Just noticed this one.

You can shoot through walls and bookcases as well, and you can hit anything that is both on screen and discovered. Bows are more than a little buggy at the moment. The system currently doesn't seem to understand what an impassable tile is, so I'll be working on that soon.

Any idea if you'll implement volume controls in options (which obviously isn't accessable yet) anytime soon? No offense to the official soundtrack (which isn't bad) but I like to have a mega-shuffle going on in my music player when delving into roguelikes. Pretty good game thus far btw, I'm finding it mildly addicting. =)

Yes, volume controls will definitely be there. The function is already in the game, just not a slider for it. I'll try and have that out next patch as it is a core feature.

Great work so far!

I think my biggest problem right now is the positioning of the cursor's tooltip. Might be the transparency needs adjusting, or just an offset, I'm not sure. As it is now, its behavior is more than a little irritating.

Do you mean it's position on screen? Or the actual window itself? Because the window snaps to the side of the mouse that it can fit, and so that it doesn't cover what is currently picked up.
