Post news Report RSS Nuclear Dawn - Pre-Purchase Availability & First Tutorial

In order to celebrate the start of Nuclear Dawn’s pre-purchase offer on Steam, we are releasing our first official tutorial video, which takes new players through the basic stages of resource point capture, teamwork, and not dying too easily on the battlefield.

That's right! Nuclear Dawn is now officially available for pre-order on Steam! Following Iceberg Interactive's announcement last week, InterWave Studios and Valve Software are making the game available with a 10% pre-order discount for both single and four packs.

It has been a long road, fraught with delays and hardship, and we would like to thank you all for sticking with us through it all. Now that the game is nearing completion, we are proud to announce that Nuclear Dawn's full price is set at $24.99 USD, €19.99 Euros or £16.99 GBP, and other relative price points depending on your location and currency of choice. Four-packs will also be available for pre-order, and will carry a further substantial discount. Ofcourse when you buy the game, it will be for both platforms, Mac and PC.

Early adopters, as well as knowing that they kept us in warm blankets and soup until the release date, will receive a 10% discount on the full price, as well as automatically gaining access to the closed beta starting on August 25, 2011.

The game's release date is currently set for September 25, 2011, when the pre-order discount will end, and early closed beta adopters will be able to unleash their month's training head start on those who weren't wise enough to pre-order. You have been warned!

Check out the first full tutorial video below, or visit the Nuclear Dawn website for more details about the game.

Aside from additional structures and support powers, what other purpose do resources have while vehicles are not included yet?

I saw this at steam today and it looks interesting, it reminds me of Battlefield 2142, which is a game I really liked. It's not clear to me how the RTS part is going to work though. I'll check out some post-release feedback to see if this is worth my money ;)

If you can't afford this, try Empires mod for the Source engine - very similar concept.

Game is a bit expencive for me. For comparison. Section 8 2 was £10 (this is £15) and included a single player campaign.

My main issue though is lifespan. In particular that only the biggest games and mods survive. After a week I imagine this will be dead much like Breach, Blacklight, Section 8 ect. This game really needs decent bots.

oh man you mean for the low low price of 22.49 I can play what is essentially a mash up of COD's gunplay and BF2142's general gameplay on the SOURCE ENGINE? Let me break out my wallet!

also

Empires mod, faggots.

20 dollar too expensive ? I think it looks like real fine quality and if you dont want to spend 20 dollars for a fine fps game you would like to play, youre just cheap.

Looks like Empires on crack... Or even Natural Selection 2... No thanks, I'll pass. I'm fed up with pre orders of games that turns out to be total **** (yes, I'm looking at you BRINK, Crysis 2, and DNF). So give us a demo, or no buy.

Come guys, dont try to compare indie developers if full flagged mainstream developers. They are completely different so are the experience. For the time this been in development at least we can rest assure that it have a lot of though done in gameplay (real PC gameplay, not a ported one) different from mainstream where everything is rushed(most of the time a bad port).

But for sure a Demo would be welcome.

I am. Indeed that is part of my issue. I can get Fear 3, a fairly recent release, for £20. Even if we say you are right and the higher price is justfied for being indie, Section 8 2 was £10, had MP, Survival and a SP campaign. Blacklight and Breach were both £10 and had similar production values. (and are both dead, hence why this needs bots) Where is the extra money going and will it matter 1 week after release?

Then there is your claim of "real PC gameplay". What is that exactly? Yes, there are some really bad posts out there, and there are some games dumbed down for consoles, but where is the line drawn. Half Life 2 is on Xbox, is that a 'real PC game'?

Pre-order money is going to pay the developers so that FREE DLC can be released...unless you'd rather it be for-pay DLC... it has been stated that the DLC will include forms of AI, and Vehicle play will be (re) added later as well. Probably new maps, and the list goes on. Not enough pre-orders/purchases this won't happen. And you'll crush the hopes and dreams of a budding developer.
