This version, along with an updated Xbox version, include various improvements to not just the performance but also the looks. If you look at the 2nd screenshot at the end, you will see we updated how the "Ground" block looks in the levels. These are the blocks where you need to guide your main Star to the bottom to win each level. Instead of just a single line, it now completely surrounds the block with a pattern that even goes around connected blocks like the screenshot shows.
