NNK finally returns after four years to announce R2!

Posted by on

Welcome to NNK R2!

It's been a long time coming but we're excited to finally announce Naruto: Naiteki-Kensei R2!

Hey guys! It's been so long since I've written one of these updates. It's been almost three years now, unbelievable. NNK R1 was released a year before that even! So here we are, four years later. For everyone who still believed in us, thank you for sticking around and supporting us. Know that we deeply appreciate it and it kept us going.

So what happened? For those of you who have stuck around or are coming back, you may remember this update where we filled you in on what happened after R1's release. After that update the team said our good byes and parted ways. We thought, maybe in the future we could come back to finish our project event though none of us truly believed we would.

Years later, our main programmer Tenken approached me, Kama, talking about a new engine he was working with called Unity. To practice working with it, he had decided to try recreating R1 best he could using our assets. It was incredibly rough, but fun to jump around in. I helped him find and implement assets he was missing and in our excitement, one thing led to another until we found ourselves deciding why not restart NNK. We contacted old developers SV and Denz and showed them our progress. Our team was together again. Over the course of development we've received assistance from GodGundam, Darthtooth, roach, and fan favorite Tim N.

What does this mean for you? Well first and most importantly no more Half-life! Anyone will be able to download and play R2 instantly. You don't need to have any other pre-existing games. NNK R2 has been built from the ground up, completely remade. This means that all the old bugs, and especially the client.dll error, are non-existent. We are able to craft the game exactly how we want without worrying and open up to the largest possible fan base.

You'll hear more in future updates, but I'd like to thank our testers for working so hard and getting us up to par where we were able to finally announce our revival. It's been a long journey.

Finally, we're always in search of talent. If you know any animators who would be interested in our project, please forward us their information or ask them to contact us. We have a hard working talented team, but are in need of extra animators.

It's good to be back!- The NNK Team

Well that's awesome :D

Though I must ask a question: It'll still be just a multiplayer/ deathmatch style game, for lack of a better term? As in, no plans for a single player/ story mode? I understand that, even though I would desperately love a Naruto action adventure game that goes through the entire series... Still, looks awesome even if it isn't the exact game I'm looking for. Good work on actually doing something, and I hope you do more!

If they made this similar to Z Warrior Chronicles... that would be amazing. It was adventure, but still had a versus multiplayer function. It could support co-op on certain missions, etc... However, I think they'll stick to basic deathmatch.

That would be awesome. Beyond awesome, actually. Though reality would get in the way, and they have to do something they can actually do, sadly.

I do hope they at least have some different mission types beyond the basics though.
