I'm eating, sleeping and breathing in Shallow Space at the minute. Each day that goes by I tweak, improve and add. Some might say its no way to develop a game but believe me with this many variables you really have to keep playing testing and adjusting.
Tweaks to this minor revision include:
- Revised movement of the capital ships, they now bank and turn smoothly and follow the targeting reticle instantly promoting the player to use arcs of fire more wisely and proactively.
- Added light cruisers to the players arsenal, with 'Guard' ability
- Tweaked the medium pulse laser turrets by adding predictive targeting (so now they actually hit things)
- Made the Heavy cruisers join the move and fire brigade albeit slowly (watching them simply sitting there shooting and getting shot was annoying me!)
So in this latest video I've added two none capital ships, the keen eye'd amongst you might notice that the player controlled light cruisers have a slightly different menu system than the capital ships with an additional option 'Guard' this will cause the ships to fly around the target defending it.
Today I hope to be adding frigate's, which remaining true to the form will be the smallest class of ship that should be deployed as the leader of a pack. Packs are something I'll be bringing in the future which is a drag-drop GUI concept allowing easier control of portions of a fleet.
