There were two important new problems in the 1.4.3 pre-release that we had to fix, so here's a pre-release of 1.4.4 instead! We hope to publish it in the launcher in the middle of next week.
The changes since 1.4.3 is:
- Another 20 or so issues fixed, full list here: 1.4.4 issue list
- Fixed the “unable to swim upwards” bug (prevented a 1.4.3 official release)
- Fixed the “placed torches jump between walls” bug (also prevented a 1.4.3 release)
Download the pre-release here:
- Client: Assets.minecraft.net
- Server: Assets.minecraft.net (or EXE)

i dont get why there keep posting pre-release but i like the fact there fixing the game :)
I don't know why they didn't include pre-releases in the launcher months ago.
"[X] Update to pre-release versions. Apply preferences."
At most that is all it would be and would just would take a few lines of code that references a different table stored on their server, and a function to save that setting accordingly.
No idea why that isn't reality yet.
it allows people an opportunity to see the latests features and gives them free testers. it is one of those, win-win sort of things.
7 DAYS LATER....
1.4.4.4.4.2.23.3.4.21.2.3.4.3.2.1.2.3.4.5.4.3.3
Don't get why they keep doing this...
