Hello, guys, this is Lost Squad Development Team and today we want to tell you more about one of the most exciting features of our game - Dynamic Destructions.

Dynamic Destructions is a new, in some way even revolutionary, technology made using Source Engine Physics. This technology allows to destroy models and static brushes as well. So here are some explanations on how it works:

If you shoot static brush, a hole in it will appear exactly on the place where you shoot. Such destructions are very cheap, which means, that they don’t require a lot of resources of your PC to work. However, this technology has a disadvantage - such brushes must be squar or rectangular and they also experiencing some problems with dynamic lighting.

Destuction of models is what we really like. Our technology doesn’t work like Levolution in Battlefiled 3 or 4, in other words, we don’t just create models with animations of destruction. Our destructions are based on the actual physics forces applied to the object. So, its more like destructions in Red Faction: Guerilla and Armageddon. Also, the dynamically destructible model can be anything - from a small box to the whole building. The disadvantage of this technology is that it is rather expensive and using a lot of them on one map can reach the limits of the Source Engine and destructible models can't act as prop_physics, so it's more like static destructible object. Another disadvantage is that this technology doens’t work correctly with static lighting.

That’s pretty much what Dynamic Destructions are about. Thank you for your attention. Stay tuned and vote for us.

So, since it doesn't work with static lighting, you have to put on some dynamic lightning?
Since I heard you guys created a global lighting system as well, does that interfere with those props then?
