Hi everyone!

DreadStar: The Quest for Revenge is a retro-styled shoot'em'up with rpg elements such as leveling up, skill points, inventory and equipment systems. It features pixel art cutscenes, ZX Spectrum and Atari-ST music to go along with a fast gameplay, big boss fights and exciting replayable levels available in 3 different difficulties.

Check the trailer out:

Here is an update on the game as the 5th level visuals are complete. You can see a preview of the level along with a mysterious sorcerer figure.

This level will be pretty different from the others as it will feature racing-like mechanics (speed boosters and downers) as you will have to navigate through old relics, walls and floating platforms inside an ancient abandoned structure.

As for the development of the game, it is going on steadily and we have begun working on the 4th level’s enemy placement and overall feel. In order to do so, we have modified the level editor to allow us to place enemies and background objects exactly as we want them to be and especially in sync with the backgrounds.

Here is a picture of the level editor as well.

We plan to release it sometime after we launch the game (with improved features) and add a way for people to play custom made levels!

Stay tuned for more and in the mean time, don’t hesitate to check Augmented-irreality.fr to read our devlog!

The alpha demo is still available on GameJolt and Itch.io !
