Kenshi - Out Now!

Back at the start of December 2018 Kenshi left early access, finally marked feature complete after 12 years of development. As we said on Steam, most of the time was Chris working alone before expanding to a 6 person team and later shrinking back to a 4 man squad.

Now the studio is growing again we're happy to update the elements that were sadly neglected such as our IndieDB page. Once again we'd like to thank all of our players who have spread the word, supported us along the way and never given up on us during our long development. And of course we want to give a special thank you to all of our moderators and contributors who have given us their time and help to make Kenshi as good as it can be.

For anyone that unfortunately missed the launch day by patiently waiting on the IndieDB page check out our full trailer here:

Current Plans

With the launch of Kenshi out of the way the studio now has three main focal points:

  • Bug Fixing: There's still a few quirks we're working out in Kenshi, as of writing the current public release is v1.0.27, updates are set to continue as we're keeping a keen eye on user feedback to solve any remaining issues as quickly as possible. If you encounter any issues please let us know, ideally through the forums.
  • Localisation: Kenshi has a surprisingly wide appeal with users telling us their stories from across the globe. We're working with the game's fans and external partners to give everyone the best experience we can by translating Kenshi into different languages where it makes sense to do so. Trust us in that we're monitoring where our users are and localising accordingly, currently we're focused on finishing up the Japanese translation and providing Chinese language support.
  • Kenshi 2: We're not willing to share too many details of the project just yet, but laying the groundwork for Kenshi 2 allows us to work on much needed engine upgrades which we plan to include in Kenshi for free as soon as they're ready. This should provide a large boost to performance in addition to several other perks we'll talk about later down the road.

Join the Kenshi Community

As things are somewhat under control we're also taking a more active role in the game's fan communities. If you're new or returning to Kenshi be sure to check out the two main ones at the links below.

Additionally we have a few official channels where you can keep up with the latest news on the game, highlights from the Steam Workshop and any competitions or other fun things we've got planned.

Such an amazing game. I can't believe it's been since 2012 that I first heard about this game! As well, one of the only "early access" games I ever bought that ended up being fully released.

Hey, for kenshi 2 could you add features allowing players to terraforming the map, pleaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssseeee! A bit like this good old game "moon project".

problems often encountered in kenshi (1):
- placing buildings and walls (terraforming could help)
- supply of non-local resources (trade routes system + diplomatic system m could help)
- area lacks of replayability (you clean a prison and the ennemies doesn't respawned if they are dead. bandits and beast could invade the place)

I'll say this

I wonder how visually different KENSHI 2 will look from KENSHI since you hired a new artist I think I am hoping the characters look more awesome might as well take the opportunity to refine the character and world visuals.

2. not sure if it fits in the lore but would love to see the different type of species in the world, a Jabba the hut race slithering across the land, lol..I just feel you guys could create some astounding races it doesn't have to be more than 2. (What i mean is something else other than human skeleton structure <3)

3. MOUNTS! please

5. a linear mini story to guide new players into the world. Just a defined story to guide new players into a path..so they can learn the game and then you set them free into the world. I would love for you guys to craft a story that is actually a hidden tutorial for NEW kenshi players to learn.

6. I love this game I want you guys to have record-breaking profit so we see more games like Kenshi.

From the IndieDB team, thanks Kenshi for sharing so much over the past 7 years. It means a huge amount to have played even the smallest of roles in your games incredible success.

If you ever want to take a step more with us, i'd love to have a conversation about your mod community and if there is a way we can help serve your GOG and other non-steam customers, with our workshop-like Mod.io platform.

Keep it up!

Proud of you guys. Always. Chris especially, but all involved. Kenshi is an inspiration and absolutely worth it all in the end.

Very excited for what comes next from you.
