IotD2 Development Article #2 - October 2018
6 months. It's been 6 months since the last update on the development of Illusions of the Dead 2. To be honest, nothing has happened in those 6 months. I've been really busy with school, my job and also very important: my social life. I didn't think combining all those things with developing a mod for an 8 year old video game would be that hard for me. Well, never have I been so wrong...
Luckily, there's also good news: I'm considering to continue this project. No, the project was never cancelled. There are a few reasons why I haven't been working on the mod for more than half a year.
Reason 1: Like I said, I have been really busy with other stuff.
Reason 2: A lack of inspiration, coming up with something new and original is hard. You also have to think when creating something new about how you're going to implement it into the game. Will it work? Is it possible to do something like that?
Reason 3: The small fanbase that still plays the game. Amnesia currently is an 8 year old video game. Is it really worth all the effort to create a custom story when only a few people will play it? Don't get me wrong, it's great fun to work on a custom story and create a mod for people to enjoy. But it just takes AN ENORMOUS amount of time to create a mod that's actually really good.
So like I said, I'm considering to continue this project, but I would like to know how many people are still active in the Amnesia community and if it is worth all the effort to continue on the development of Illusions of the Dead 2.
