Post news Report RSS Incursion Development Ceased

Due to repeated delays, missed deadlines, and increasing financial pressure, Cube Noir is officially ceasing development of Incursion.

As the company's founder, let me offer my sincerest apologies for the slowness of production leading up to this, and indeed the cancellation itself.

As those of you who have been following us here and elsewhere throughout the development process will know, many of our deadlines have been pushed back, missed, or forgotten, often without any formal explanation.

What you may not know is the length of time the game has been in production: While the complete team has been working on this game for over a year, I started work on it over three years ago.

The game as it currently stands is not even half-finished, and at the current speed of development, completion of the project simply isn't a realistic goal.

It breaks my heart to call it a day, after investing so much in the project, but Incursion has always been ambitious for a debut title, and it has long been my fear that it would prove just too ambitious.

I wish it came as more of a surprise to me than it does, but for Incursion, this is definitely the end of the road.

I would like to thank you all for your support throughout the game's production, both financially and emotionally. We may not have accomplished what we originally set out to, but without all of you, we couldn't even have made it this far.

So from myself, and everyone else here, thank you all for what has undoubtedly been the most educational, eye-opening, and uplifting venture of my entire life.

Peter,

Same thing happened to me on my first indie game. Don't let it get you down. Start over again really small, and do what you can to get some games out the door.

What are you planning on doing with the work on the engine you've done so far? I wouldn't exactly mind getting my hands on it.

Elements have been incorporated into our other project, The Sky Belongs To No One. It's a very different style and tone of game though, and it's being developed by a different team.

I definitely won't be releasing the source code to other people though; Incursion was very much a learning experience for me, so some older parts of the code are just plain crap.

If you're interested in TSBTNO though, you can find some more info here: Petermoorhead.com

Fair enough, to be honest.
I will keep a close eye on TSBTNO.
