Hello!

Just popping in for a quick update about the game and talk about the recently released 1.2 demo!

When the game first launched there were a few issues - some I was aware of and others I was blind to.

To start, I knew that when you maximized the window, you could see things you shouldn't. This was specifically true for the end of the level where I store running Roku off to the side:

and also during the break level when the tokens are dropping in from the top:

These issues occur because the game isn't supposed to be played at a larger resolution than it starts at, but there's no way to prevent users from maximizing the window and changing the stage size with a Flash Projector file that I could find - and trust me, I looked. :c In any case: both issues were easily fixed by simply adding a mask over the stage area.

Some other really bad problems were caused by players using the Flash Projector's "Next Step" function. Again, this is because that is an external control which I can't really alter without hacking the Projector - and that breaks licensing rules. Flash used to allow you to turn this off, but no longer does. To solve this, I have simply switched to an Adobe AIR export of the game. There are pros and cons to this.

First of all, it solves the "Next Step" issue. You simply can't do that anymore. (Definitely a pro!) It also allows me to create my own icon and title display for the game - giving the game a much more finished and polished look.

(Pro and pro!)

Unfortunately all of this means that you won't be able to play the demo without installing it.

It ALSO means that you need to have Adobe AIR installed on your machine. (Con.) It's not the biggest deal in the world and most people will already have it installed for one reason or another, but it's always a little uncomfortable to hear that you need ANOTHER piece of software to run the thing you just want to play. (Con.)

But, then again, the install file is actually making it work much more reliably on Mac! (HUGE PRO!)

On the other hand: Khan.

(KHAAAAAAN!)

Well, that's pretty much it for now. One final change I made was that the flashing image warning at the beginning is no longer selectable text! That was a little annoying, no?

I'll be trying to update the game with a much bigger update in the next few days, but as I get closer to the kickstarter launch, I'm having to divide my time between marketing and developing. It's a hard line, but I'm walking it. Here's our happy friend who's...getting a little hot in the collar for what's to come:

Try to stay cool! The 2.0 demo is coming soon!

Which reminds me: only a few more days until the Kickstarter Campaign goes live!

If you like the game, please spread the word and help generate buzz! Any support is greatly appreciated and might just be the difference between this becoming a full game or the doors closing on it for the foreseeable future.

Take care everyone! Played the demo? Loved it? Hated it? Leave comments below!
