We're on day 3 and today the floor was open for all the big names! But to our surprise GDC Play was still bringing in more people than we could have hoped for though legs are sore and breaks were few and far between. We got to show off our game to Activision, Blizzard, Epic, Tripwire, DesuraNET, Bandai, and so many more and received nothing but positive feedback which we're grateful for.
We showed you a video yesterday showcasing our models and today we have more alpha gameplay with another track composed by our very own Ulrich Gollick (No dubstep this time). We hope you enjoy it as much as those who were viewing it at our kiosk yesterday and today-
Special thanks to the guys at Cho-media.org again for their editing skills.
The day was long and all are exhausted so the team has come together for dinner to celebrate a hard days work, discuss all that went on and all that they met, but most importantly to rest dem legs.
On to day 4 and the end of GDC Play so be sure to keep up on the final days of this years GDC with live coverage by following us on Facebook & Twitter
Looks great so far, awesome work guys!
Good, that Apple building picture isn't here....
Grats on all that you guys have achieved! It should turn out to be a very successful game in the end :D
work on hands' position of how the m4 is held, its very awkward looking. Otherwise, great work! keep it up!
I would agree, the front hand does look odd on the M4. Also, are you guys letting people play the game at your kiosk?
We just took down the Kiosk as GDC Play is over. We'll still be on there for the last day of GDC tomorrow though. We did not have a playable demo of the game available at the Kiosk no but had one prepared for private meetings. What you find odd about the AR-15 could be the wire that leads to the flashlight. But we'll look into it as soon as GDC is over and we've had time to settle back in.
The Arms rig position. I am an animator myself and I have to say move the left arm in a little bit to hug the gun more. Simple movement and shouldn't take much work to fix up and errors it provides.
Love the soundtrack but I noticed that some zombies would be in a weird animation state before dying. They would be in their last animated pose before dying and a couple of milliseconds later they stiffen up or going ragdoll. Or they just instantaneously go ragdoll upon death.Maybe its a source engine problem since I noticed this in other source games or maybe not since i dont know anything about source. RAGE had a nice solution to this. The npcs would have a little animation that bridges the animation of the model when it was alive and when it was dead.
Eg: You shot this mutant in the head and instead of him flying backwards instantly and all of his limbs turning to jelly in 1 second he would flail around a little bit or walk in a dazed state before dying.
Source has done this since it existed. It's just a matter of making the animations. I mean L4D THRIVED on the feature for god's sake!
who needs AR15 or M4 (dont know how its called) when theres a Pump Action xD
The Ultimate Zombie Smasher
Guns look like they handle really well and seem to have a great feel to them, can't wait to see more!
Wow. At first I thought that those were NPCs getting shot like cannon fodder.
No, it was players -_-
What happened to actually being afraid of zombies? I am now questioning whether I'll buy this or not.
For GDC the video was intentionally made to focus on Action and you're seeing an unscripted recording by someone who is very skilled and taking advantage of headshots. Unfortunately the player zombies charged straight into a group of survivors alone (I think we can all agree the Zombie who makes that mistake should pay for it).
Zombies are quite tough and hold enough HP to handle themselves fine but a proper headshot will do the trick. We look forward to showing off survival vs action as with the current balance you'd end up without ammo and dead and even those with weapons are more likely to get ambushed than have a zombie charge at them alone. Survival rate is incredibly low and while we won't force you to buy the game (don't expect people to want to buy an Alpha build anyhow) we suspect you'll have a change of opinion later with more updates. If not, we can't please everyone.
