During the development of a game, you should always keep focus on performances, frame rate etc. We were doing a test with some NPCs rendered on screen and then we had to animate them somehow. That's the final result!

Hi time travellers! Welcome back to our development articles, we are working hard to prepare the best Kickstarter launch we can for October! Today we want to show you a funny stress test we created last week.

The SERN laboratory will feature a lot of Non Playable Characters (NPCs), just to let the player have the feeling the level is really “alive”. You can see the level in the following video

Isn’t it quite empty for a science laboratory the day of the grand experiment? Yes, it is. That’s why we started working on NPCs!

To create these secondary characters, we used Mixamo. The result is very good and the time spent is little. Check this one

Now, the expected frame rate for our game is 30 fps. We had to do a stress test with lots of NPCs moving around in order to check a possible frame rate drop. We created 10 different NPCs (5 men, 5 women… gender equality!) and placed them in Jack’s office. So… we had to choose an animation for them. We really love Michael Jackson and some days ago we celebrated his death anniversary, so the choice was really easy.

Ladies and gentlemen… Thriller!

Other aspects of the game we already talked about are:

The game is currently under development and we’ll launch a Kickstarter campaign soon. We need YOU to complete the game, subscribe to our newsletter to know when to back the project! If you still have to watch the trailer, visit our website.

Privateer 2 had this highly artistic dance scenes, some of them were amazing! This stuff is sorely missing from games, such scenes should be included to raise gameplay value and give a unique feel.
