The next devlog is live!
This time I show off the new lighting engine! All environment objects will now cast shadows behind light sources and the day-night cycle has received a nice improvement, adding evening, night and morning colors so you can almost see what time it is just by looking at the ambient light.
Mission 1 has also been polished and is now in a near-final form. I play through the entire mission during the video. It now also includes "allies" friendly, units that you have no control over, but takes care of themselves with AI.
The resolution of the grid has also been changed, so now the grid size is 128x128 instead of 64x64 which will lead to a prettier game in the end, but now I have just scaled the sprites up without adding any detail. This also means that the smallest units will go from 16x16 to 32x32 which is a HUGE improvement in quality for such small sprites. All units will now be easily distinguished because of their unique look.
