Space flight AI is a tricky problem that kept me up all night last night and it's still not 100% but I think it's somewhere near, check the latest video because personally, I don't mind saying that I'm excited! I've implemented light cruisers which will harry around targets, an AI strategy that both frigates and corvettes will use also.
I'm determined to create the type of space RTS that we've all been waiting for, some games have come close like Starwolves for the RPG aspects, Starfleet Command for the micromanagement and Nexus for the sheer beauty and scope of the battles. If I were to take all of these concepts and mash them into a game it'll be a mess, I feel the trick is to delicately pluck the best ideas from each game, throw in a bit of originality and create something that is attractive, fun and re-playable. I for one, will not let this genre die.
