I know, I know, long time without updates, but I promise that it will be worth at the end, I am here today to update you all and to show you a small F.A.Q. with tons of information, it is a lot to read, but everything you gotta know.So here is a few questions and answers.
1. Where have you been?
R: I've been working and studying, a lot, and also focusing on the new chapter of The Lost Souls. Unfortunately, as a small indie developer, I can’t work 100% of my time on the project, it has to be on my free time. I also started to study on high quality school to increase the quality of the games I develop and bring an amazing and better experience to you all. The good news is that I could focus lots of my time on The Lost Souls on these past months.
2. Why is it taking so long?
R: As I said many times, I don’t want to release some low quality game, in every aspect, from gameplay to graphics and horror experience, so I've been doing, redoing and redesign a bunch of stuffs around the game. At the end of last year I started playing a few games to get new ideas and inspirations, when I found a game called P.T. on the PS4, also know as Silent Hills, that made me fascinated about how our lord Kojima created such an immersive and amazing experience with such a small environment. Since then I am really exited on get something that can goes the same way and give people an amazing and, specially, scary experience. You will probably see lots of it influence in a few parts of the game. So now I put my feet on the ground and finally found what I wanted to do. The bad news is that sometimes I can't develop the game at night because it disturbs my sleep. Bah..
3. Is there any prediction for releasing it?
R: Yes and no. As promised, I will first release a demonstration and a part of the game to the people who preordered the game on OUYA console. This first level already has all functions and functionality from the final game, so since it is ready the rest of the game is going to be way faster to develop. I am planning on start the tests with some players in 2 weeks, after fixing all bugs and problem I will release the first version, I am counting on it be ready by the end of May, 2015. The final version I am counting to be released to all platforms by the end of the year.
4. You said it before, why is it going to be different now?
R: For a couple of reasons:
A) the first time I was counting on some people that unfortunately couldn't stay on the project, as I said before, it is a low budget indie company and they had to leave for some projects.
B) I am focusing a lot on the project, I also had to work outside, and my last project and studies gave me lots of experience, ideas and solutions that I am bringing to The Lost Souls.
5. Yeah, great. Which platforms The Lost Souls is coming to?
The demonstration is first coming on OUYA console, later, when the game is ready, we are going to release it on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows Phone, Play Station 3 and Steam. It may be released on Play Station 4 and Play Station Vita In the future.
6. What are the news about the gameplay systems?
R. There are a bunch of new functionalities now. There is an AI system that can force the player to go around carefully using stealth, hiding and avoiding make noises. Play can also run now, but it makes lots of noise and after a while you will have to stop to recover your breath. Lots of new scary moments, that I promise.
R: I am really pushing OUYA, the scenes has lots of stuffs going on and it runs in a really high frames rate, I am really glad with what was accomplished in here. I also want to thank everybody that is giving support and ideas for the game, I am really glad about the positive feedbacks and the expectations. I also want to apologize about the long development from the game, as I said, the quality is something I am really pushing hard.
