Devlog #1 - June 29th
So I decided to re-make Towncraft 2's sprites... Again! Yeah... but it actually ended up surprisingly well. Simple, yet good looking, these new sprites have no outlines, which ease the process of making animations for them, and the result is already notable.
As you guys can see in the screenshot, there are now different sprites for when the guy is chopping the tree, bringing both food and wood to the town hall, plowing, also when building something. These things make the game feel more, you know... alive! I've made a fishing animation too and I want to implement that system this week.
I'm making some changes to the HUD as well, getting rid of the outlines and making it more colourful. Increased the units speed a little because I want the game to feel faster. From now the player will be able to build farms close to other buildings (as happens with the fences).
I'm working on a save/load system focusing on being able to load game from a minor version in a later one. I've been making, as well, the settings menu, I want to make it so the player will be able to toggle music/sfx, blood, etc.
I've been struggling for months with this but I figured out how to make the fullscreen mode of such a low-res game not look awful, and after that I started working non-stop on it (it was frustating me so much) and hope to get it ready for Steam as soon as possible!
Thank you very much for reading, see you next monday!
A little bonus gif:
i'm happy to see this going so nicely.
Thanks! :DD
Oh I just added some new screenshots on the page, showing the fixed hill tile and new water tile.
This Looks Amazing!
I love the buildings art !
I just noticed that if you look closely, you can see that the flags on the fields corner are hidden by the house behind them (visible in the last image).
By the way, why does fields have a flag ?
Yes I'm gonna fix this, thanks! :D
The flag is so you know if there's someone working on it.
Thanks! ^^
This is coming along great, I look forward to seeing it on Steam :)
It's so beautiful! I love it :D
