This is a special, short, mid-week development update as Terry was gone lately.
We have uploaded another almost 5 minute video to YouTube of some of our recent playtesting sessions, just to show off some of the latest work being done.
Each time we test the game, it's fun to see the progress - new models being added, new weapons, new animations, issues being fixed, and so forth. Things are looking pretty good overall at this stage, but there are still just a couple of core things we're working on wrapping up.
Also, I want to announce that we're going to have the game development team join an IRC chat channel this coming Saturday for a Q&A session, August 3rd, 2013, at 11 AM CDT, for anyone that would like to stop by and introduce themselves or ask any of us questions.
One of our forum members created the channel and you can find it here: Goo.gl
If you have a few minutes on Saturday, please drop by and say a hi.
Playtest Video
(sorry about the Skype message sounds being included)
Gonna be awesome :D (Skype sounds got me too, lol)
Hahaha, these one were tricky. We are glad that you liked our footage.
Front tire issues on vehicles??
The drivers kept running into things and popping them, so they were driving on the rims - which shoot out the sparks and have the screeching noise.
Ahh ok, did not notice until you mentioned. Thanks :)
Hey I make youtube videos and I would love to play this
when are the betas coming out??
its looking good, make sure to make the effect look more realistic
Which effect(s) do you think should look better?
oh the dirt effects XD
Would be nice if you actually started a fire with the burning vehicle
2:08 - did he just ramp a tent in a humvee?
Yes. Someday we'll make objects destructible so that wouldn't work.
the grass seems out of place, perhaps the shading is not on it yet an therefore sticks out. but it could use some variation in height and colour if possible i think.
Loving the look of this so far, and for alpha state its looking like it will have plenty of polish. Keep up the good work guys.
There is still a lot of improvements we'll make to the vegetation. Pretty much everything you currently see will be replaced - we consider the game pre-alpha still.
