Low :: Depths of Knossos now has a DevBlog. This week has been focused on 3 things; Theseus body control, monster pathfinding, and sneak/hiding. Theseus is no longer a pair of floating arms. I've added a full body that makes for a bunch of neat interactions, like kicking. It may (if there is time) lead to an optional 3rd person camera.

Time for a Devblog! With all the work left to do; it's hard to keep the internet up to date on progress; but perhaps putting the word "Friday" in the title will make it a weekly event.

This week has been focused on 3 things; Theseus body control, monster pathfinding, and sneak/hiding.

Theseus has a body

Theseus is no longer a pair of floating arms. I've added a full body that makes for a bunch of neat interactions, like kicking. It may (if there is time) lead to an optional 3rd person camera.

Look at my feet.

Also, these guys are now a LOT smarter. They can now 'path-find' through the labyrinth, and depending on the monster, have different routines, like searching, guarding and resting.

And lastly, I've overhauled the monster "sensory" code. Monsters have sight and hearing. They can see you if are illuminated (standing in light or holding a torch) and there is a direct line of sight from their eyes to your body. They can also hear your clumsy ruckus if you knock things over, or run nearby. This gives you the ability to outrun alerted monsters, and hide in a shadow, wardrobe or vase.

Long road ahead, but getting there. Thanks for checking out Devblog #1!

Very cool - remember seeing some pre-alpha footage a while back, looking forward to seeing how this progresses!
