Game development: Tower placement, deleting, and upgrading, GUI in game (WIP), lifebar in enemies.

Posted by on

Hi there!

In this news I will show the following features and game development progress: Tower placement, deleting, and upgrading, GUI in game (WIP), lifebar in enemies.

Tower placement: you can place a tower on any map position that is not used by an object or is the path of an enemy. There is a limit of towers that you can put on a given map. Also in the beginning you cannot build more than one tower at the same time.

A grid is displayed when you are going to put a tower, it will show the places available.

Deleting towers: You can delete any tower that you want, so you can free a place of your limit to put another tower, but the energy used for invocation not will recover.

Upgrading towers: A tower can upgrade to level 3, if you meet two requirements: first you must have the required energy for the upgrade, and second, you must learn the upgrade by magical research.

GUI: It is minimalist and tries to not distract attention of the game itself. Still, it is a work in progress and probably some things will change a bit.

  • Left bar: physical attack towers, and tools.
  • Right bar: magical attack towers, and support.
  • Top bar:
    • To the right, the information (new tower research, the number of towers used and the fault counter). You can put the cursor over the icon for more information.
    • To the left, the buttons (Menus, quick options, information)
    • At the center is the magic available for invocations.

GUI

Enemies Lifebar: In quick options I added the option of displaying the life of the enemies to be able to notice more easily what kind of enemy is more sensitive to a type of tower. Anyway, even without this option enabled, you can see the life of any particular enemy by positioning the cursor over it.
