Hello, dear Community!
Today's post brings you a creature we are simply fascinated with (and by "we," I might mean mostly myself 😂).
It's yet a nameless one, and we hope to get your help in finding a name for it. More about this at the end of the post.
This beauty is going to be an enormous sea creature. We want it to really have colossal proportions.
Despite what you might expect, all of this is not meant to make it into an aggressive and combat-focused creature. Instead, we wanted it to be about rare resources.
Just like real-life whales, we want it to get aggressive and dangerous if need be, due to its size, of course, but that is not its normal behavior, just a defensive reaction for some cases. We want its encounters to be about being agile to swiftly extract the rare resources attached to the creature's skin and barnacle. Naturally, players will have to be on the lookout for other parties also searching for its valuable resources or just seeking to hunt and kill it (so cruel ðŸ˜).
From the beginning, we wanted it to have a majestic and imposing design that didn't look aggressive and looked like something that carries lots of valuable resources. We want this resource to be some sort of material found inside its barnacles, for instance.
We went through several different concepts before reaching the one you see here, and we are absolutely in love with it!
We are still figuring out the details about how an encounter with this whale will play out, but it will definitely be a dynamic in the seas and will probably involve boats too. Perhaps players will have to attach harpoons to it? Or hold on to its back while it tries to shake players off? How do you imagine this, and how would you like it to play out?
Regardless of how we go about it in the end, we are super excited to see this dynamic in-game and players fighting for these valuable resources.
