Post news RSS Winter and Summer Updates - Changelogs v1.2.1 and v1.2.2

The latest Slime King updates bring in more fun seasonal objects to play around with in your own level design, whether you're making a straight forward level where the goal is to dodge all the enemies and make it to the end, or whether making a complex puzzle level.

The latest two updates have brought more seasonal themed additions to the world of The True Slime King. The summer update has been released just in time for the Steam Summer Sale, where you can get the game for 33% off.

For the summer update, I ended up going for a somewhat tropical theme (with the palm trees, tiki masks, tiki torches, sand, and tall grass). The sand blocks work well in combination with the mushroom flicker bugs to create interesting puzzles.

The new tiki masks are particularly brutal.

The winter update also brought several new unique mechanics into the game.

Make sure to watch out for those nasty snowmen

The snow blocks crumble after jumping on them twice, so use them wisely.

Pay attention when you're on the ice. The friction is drastically reduced, which could easily send you flying into spikes if you're not careful.

Changes and additions:

  • Added cosmetic items: palm tree, tiki torch, tall grass.
  • Added tiki mask that shoots out bouncing balls.
  • Added sand blocks.

Bug fixes:

  • Mushroom flicker bugs no longer switch rapidly between left and right sprites when they don't have anything to walk on. Mushroom flicker bugs also now fall down when they aren't on a block.

Known bugs:

  • Skipping the cutscenes can occasionally cause the audio volumes to not get reset back to the values they were at before the cutscene.
  • When screen is stretched by a non-integer multiple, tiles can draw parts of neighboring tiles. See this GameMaker: Studio documentation page for more information: Docs.yoyogames.com use/more about backgrounds/designing tiles.html
  • Moving the sound or music slider too fast doesn't update the volume.
