Blood will be Spilled is a spaghetti western themed 2D action platformer taking place in a world of insects. For the last few months, we were hard at work at our first demo that would showcase what we want the game to be like. As they say, creative work is never finished, merely abandoned and the same can be said about the current version of our demo. We could be polishing and finetuning it for months, but we think time has come to find out what the audience really thinks. Some of you have already played some versions of the demo at various events, but now we want to see how will people like it without us looking over their shoulders.

Sullivan

Hunting down Sullivan

The main purpose of the demo is to show to some degree what we want Blood will be Spilled to be. And as it is a game about a mosquito bounty hunter on his quest for personal vendetta we wanted the level to have some narrative connecting the showcase of all the game mechanics together. The level takes place in Rusty Rocks, long-abandoned iron mines that have been reopened under mysterious circumstances. It is also said that a wanted criminal "Fat Face" Sullivan is hiding down in the mines somewhere and rumor has it, that he's not alone there. Jack has a score to settle with Sullivan and getting bounty money for it would surely be a nice bonus. Well… let's see how it all plays out.

Very beautiful game, everything from reloading your gun to just walking around is a joy to look at. The narrator is great, not quite telling you exactly what to do but hes still informative if you want to listen. I wanted so badly to like it, but it just plays too slow for my tastes. If you've ever played Blackthorne for the SNES, that's kinda the speed it goes. There are a few incredibly annoying issues which only seem to happen after you respawn, most of which add to the frustration of going slowly. All cut scenes lag regardless of resolution size you play at.
Keep up the good work, cant wait to see what it turns into.

Sorry for the late reply, we've been to a convention with our game for the whole week, so there wasn't much time.
First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to play the demo and writing us feedback. Yes, the tempo of the game appearently seems to be an issue we need to fix, as this was the most frequent complaint. Also the cutscene performance is something we still seem to be unable to fix. :D But we're glad that you liked the things that we ourselves thought to be good - like the reloading or the narrator.

If you'd like, we could add you to our mailing list and could send you some new version of our game for testing and feedback from time to time. So, if you wouldn't mind playing around with sometimes pretty unpolished ideas, send us an email to howdy@bloodwillbespilled.com

And once again, thank you. :)
