The Literati are a group of highborn scholars, nobles, warriors, and various other people who have decided that they should control all magic words and no one else can use them. Meaning, they get to live in their beautiful word-controlled society, and the rest of the peasants and undesirables have to go back to an agrarian way of life.
To make the Literati seem much more imposing every time they appear, I had my composer Scott Hitchcock create a booming, marching theme.
