Hello everybody (or hello the few might be more correct)!
Have been playing with parallax displacement i bit as of late, learned to use GIMP to improve my textures and used Crazybump with OK results, as can be seen below (top picture). There are some artifacts sometimes however, so I just might go with only using bumped specular shaders (middle picture). You can also see the Mages hand (I have both right and left hands, see bottom picture), player will be able to equip either bot hands (and thereby two spells) or a torchlight for easier exploring.
Parallax specular
vs.
Bumped specular
The mages hands in-game, have to texture them as well bit the unwrapping is a pain since the are made with tris instead of quads... You live and learn! ( Only bumped specular shader used on the floor, still looks OK to me :)
Stay with it m8,, Not too hateful,, worry about floor tiles later.
Thanks, I am doing all the basic stuff now to get everything set before I do a lot of content so I don't have to go back and redo a lot of work. Have done some nice progress lately so check by in few days!
Looks like daggerfall- i resently played daggerfall for the first time- and i say, i love the dungeoning in it
Thanks, have not actually played that (not start to end at least, but I am well aware of what game it is, might play through it once Daggerfall XL is done) although I remember reading the review in PC Gamer :D There are going to be a lot of traps and hidden passages which is what I am working on now, so keep updated!
