Hello, indieDB Community!

Welcome to the 2nd article about our in development game, Freedom's Path.

If you want to learn more about our game, check out the 1st article on our indieDB page.

Today we are going to show you some mechanics and some of the art that we are creating for our game.

However, first we started by doing deeper research about our subject, always keeping in mind how important it is to give voice to the people of Ukraine and what is happening right now. Some of the questions we are making are how they feel, how are the spaces considered safe and how safe is it, how supportive people have been with each other, and how different generations are understanding what is happening. We want to portray how a 10 year old girl would feel in that environment in a stealth gameplay way so it is important to us to keep the feelings and facts truthful!

For the game mechanics that we are thinking of applying in Freedom's Path, it's the lights from the "enemies", overflying the zones - and that's how the player will lose in the game, by being found. Here is a quick gift of the experiments made for that mechanic. (The assets from this gift are just for showing the mechanic, it was used free assets, credits to Ansimuz)

Now we will show some of the sketches that we did for the environment and some objects.

Concluding, we started some art studies and rough sketches, tested our main mechanic, and researched more about the place.

We reached the end of our 2nd article.

See you next week!
