Ubuntu is regarded by many Linuxentric developers as a baseline. If it works in Ubuntu, it'll most likely work in any Linux distro. Plus, there are more geekish types using the other distros that will "make-it-work", should it fail by default. Supporting all distros scares off many Windows-focused developers. But a good solution is to have a list with a names, emails and a distros to tell customers "Entheogen Studios does not officially support [DISTRO_X], but we do recommend you talk to [DISTRO_X_GUY]" This is similar to the way non-proprietary Linux software has operated for many years now.
