ive been modding for quake, goldsrc, and source for the past 17 years
I honestly really appreciate your thoughts, ideas, and input!
Let's clear some things up really quick.
You could apply what you've stated to just about every modification for every game that's ever existed, but that has never stopped game developers from creating projects of varying complexities.
This project was finished ONCE already, me starting this new mod page is a landmark of renewal. I'm starting over, and this time I'm merely requesting assistance to increase the level of quality and professionalism.
The issue with waiting for Source 2 is that this project will BARELY even take advantage of Source 1, albeit outdated, it's still one of the most versatile engines and is perfect for anyone who knows exactly how to use it. It is more than enough for this project. This silly little project has waited long enough, it isn't going to wait for a game engine that it cannot take advantage of.
As I previously mentioned the whole "what if" concept applies to EVERYTHING ever created known to man. Even though I'm extremely open minded to criticisms, I have no real idea of what you're trying to imply with such a nay saying comment.
I never once stated that the original aforementioned titles needed a physics engine perse, more as just a general overall improvement and revitalization to a roster of all time classic titles. That includes swapping out "faked" or "pre baked" physics elements with real physics. Bringing back a new old style with new gameplay and features.
It's okay to dream a little, I don't know what stale world you live in where having a tiny bit of ambition and hope for the potentially unfeasible is too much to even grasp. I KNOW that this will probably never see the light of Steam or even Valve themselves for that matter, but I'm not doing this for anyone but myself. I'm doing a service free of charge to anyone who has any slight interest in playing this game.
It costs you nothing in both regards to playing it, or ignoring it's existence entirely.
It appears that you have missed the point to this entire project. I totally anticipated this exact reaction to such an ambitious project in the first place, so no surprise here. You clearly aren't the targeted demographic either for this, which is totally acceptable. The fact that you went out of your way to comment here and generated some thought provoking ideas is really neat, and I really do appreciate it.
Oh boy, I've waited for so long for this. I'm glad it's still in the works and that you are so dedicated to this. I wish I could help you with this project, but it seems that you got a lot on your plate already haha.
I Really enjoyed this. Took some getting use to, but all things considered, this turned out really good. Also very nice to see my tram finally being used in a mod.
Nice tram ;)
Will this be similar to Counter Strike: Condition Zero? Having missions and what not, or would the maps be chained together in a linear campaign style with level loads in between them? In my honest opinion both ways work pretty well, but I think it'd be really unique to see some multiplayer maps from throughout the years connected in random ways. Or rather having buildings and underground facilities connected with long stretches of roads, or a city map that acts as a hub to load different multiplayer maps. In other words, you have a good idea and which ever way you do this you can't really mess it up. Best of luck to you!

PTSD mods forever and forever, a hundred years PTSD mod, s... things. Me and Ethosaur runnin' around and Ethosaur time. Aaall day long forever. All, a hundred days PTSD mod forever a hundred times. I've been following both these mods since the idea of doing a Source port was originally concocted 11 years back. I'm a diehard fan of Half-Life and all the included expansions in the universe (essentially everything GoldSrc). Are the level layouts, character development, and overall story telling going to be the same if not identical in comparison to the originals or are there intentions to change things (if not too extreme) as such as Black Mesa did? In my stubborn nature, when witnessing the few of my most favorite games going through face lifts I wouldn't want much, or any, of the personality to change at all. When I enjoyed Black Mesa, it didn't really scream Half-Life anymore, it felt like a whole different game which is good for revitalization but definitely bad for those who've fallen in love with original. At this point I don't really care what changes or anymore, but sure as hell would love to see more callbacks to the predecessors as much as possible.
Holy **** yes
Goes to show you that you don't need outstanding visuals and detail for a good mod, this looks really cool.
Time? Wes Yadot..?
Have you ever heard of anything being complete before? There is no need to update something that is finished. In fact, the mod creator owes his "fanbase" nothing to begin with. It's not like it's a AAA game series that's suppose to have a set sequel, it's a mod.
Finalized and sent.
Indeed I do, sadly the only couple times I've ever actually partook in any modding team, each have failed due to instability and lack of project lead.
I shall hint towards previous work in said email.
Awesome, I hate myself enough that I may drop some of my projects to see if I can help out. This whole thing sounds promising. If you are looking for a slave that'll essentially level design what you want, you got him. I'll shoot an email when I get the chance.
Nice idea for the survey, really gives a good user/author connection.
I really liked it so far! I'm not sure if I was playing a little too fast or it seems that load times are significantly closer together, not that it matters because smaller levels = faster load times anyway.
Keep up the good work!
Will the main character be a normal cp, or a specific character such as a bounty hunter? I ask this because it would seem to make sense that the main character survives longer because he's not your run-of-the-mill cp.
Mirror's Edge vibe. This looks cool.
I'm almost certain it would be easier to use Portal 2 or at least the Source engine in general to do this project.
wow im high as ****, i'm seeing double.
Ooooooh this is gonna be good, let's see how long this one will last.
Excellent work! Will you be bringing back the original(WON version) fire rate of the mp5 to the steam version? Is there gonna be support for making custom subtitles for custom dialogue/.wav(s)?
Well, think about it for a second. Think of all the mods that were released that were built from the ground up and got no pay for. Black Mesa had a lot of promised release dates they never fulfilled, Talk about broken promises. Becoming paid all of a sudden (in the eyes of the user who doesn't read the forums) is very interesting. They need to modify the engine anyway to make Xen possible, so it makes sense to cost money now. I never really cared for Early Access ****, I wont be buying Black Mesa until it REALLY wows me.
Look at steam workshop... clearly that's the worst idea known to man.
"...Now anyone can make custom content..." Let's hope that there isn't a massive amount of **** content.
I don't know why, but if this were some form of Nintendo Power Glove model I would be instantly hooked. The Combine arm is fine for now I guess.
Yay!!! More themed puzzle mods. I really like these for no good reason at all.
I like the idea, but... quality can be increased greatly. I've started this project 3 years ago, and at least fixed major issues unlike from what I've seen of your minimal screenshots. Good luck I guess...
This looks a lot like Rapidcore from Half-Life.
