The main campaign isn't complete yet, but you can find a bunch of full ones in Custom Campaigns. You can even find the WBC3 campaign in there as well.

There's an item curse that does this. Visit an in-game decurser and he'll tell you which of your items is doing this and can remove the curse as well.

Some of these have been fixed, others I've never experienced or heard of anyone else experiencing before.

For resolution, the minimum has been slightly upped, but it's not anywhere near 1920x1080. I believe it's something like 1280x750. If for some reason the game won't let you set a resolution lower than 1920x1080, you can always manually set it in the game's settings file. Go to My Documents / The Protectors / Settings and you'll see a file in there named "Options.JSON". You can open / edit this file with Windows Notepad and the first couple of lines specifies the game's resolution (WindowResolutionX and WindowResolutionY). You can even set resolutions lower than what we say is the new minimum - allowing you to have something like 800x640 if you really want to go that low. But we don't offer support for these resolutions so you might find some dialogues overlapping the control panel when you go below the 1280x750 (the minimum was increased to accommodate for 16 side entries in the scenario lobby and bigger dialogues in game).

Locking the mouse cursor to the window has been implemented for 0.9. So your cursor should stay on one screen, or stay in the window in windowed mode.

The endless production button functions as normal on my end - you can happily toggle it when the game's paused. So not sure with that one.

Campaign.
But since the project has evolved to be more than just a campaign, the name's being changed for 0.9 to The Protectors of Etheria (TPE).

This is related to the game trying to load faction data for the races in the Editor, which won't work since the data isn't present there.
Unfortunately, your map may have been saved with the bug - preventing it from loading. However, this bug has been completely fixed for 0.9 and you'll be able to load up your map and continue working on it in the next version. So don't delete it - just wait a little bit longer for the next version to be released. :)

My Documents / The Protectors / HeroDataTPC-0-8-9a.XCR.
All heroes are saved in there.

Campaign progress and any saved Skirmish games are saved in My Documents / The Protectors / Saved Games folder

Unfortunately, 0.8.9b and below don't like it when the mouse is off-focus and the game will always minimise.

But for 0.9, this behaviour can be altered by the player, so you can choose exactly how the game responds to the mouse being off the window, such as leaving the game on screen and even running instead of being paused if you do choose that option as well.

Warlords and Warlords Battlecry do appear to have taken a lot of influence from Warhammer and Warhammer 40K. There's some artwork for the Ssrathi that have their leaders looking just like the Lizardmen - right down to their equipment.

Infinite Interactive did have plans for an expansion for WBC3 if it sold well enough. The aim for it was to separate Goblins from Orcs - making a new playable race of Goblins. But unfortunately, the game didn't do well and so the expansion idea was canned. And by version 1.03, the game lost all official support.

As for our mod, we technically do have new units, albeit recolours of existing units (with the exception of the return of old, removed unit models, such as the WBC1 Dragon, WBC1 Dwarf Infantry and WBC1's Rock Giant). A new race is planned, but we'll need entirely new models to make that a reality, which may or may not ever happen.

Install "0.8.9 full" into its own folder (so NOT in any existing WBC3 directory). The mod is stand alone so it does not require anything from the original game and should always be kept separate to it. Mine's E\Programs\Enlight\Infinite Interactive\The Protectors.

Then install 0.8.9a to that same directory - so the installer is given the main folder for the mod. (Again, E\Programs\Enlight\Infinite Interactive\The Protectors for me)

Then install 0.8.9b to that directory as well.

But due to an installer error, you'll end up with 2 WBC3 vanilla campaigns, but only one works (The Hero of Etheria). The other is meant to be an updated version but the installer only adds the updated files and not the whole thing. The update just adds some decursing locations so it's not really important. But if you want the "full TPC version of the vanilla campaign, then you can download that from Mod DB as well. There should be instructions on its download page on how to install that.

Both.
While normal items have a slim chance of being cursed with a random debuff, certain items will always be cursed with a fixed debuff and these are referred to as 'Heavily cursed'.

You can break the curse of an item via multiple methods, the easiest in 0.8.9b being via a quest. Once decursed, a traditional items simply loses its curse. But heavily cursed items are destroyed upon being decursed.

I would say the map loader is pretty solid and very consistent. As in, if there's an issue with a map asset (tile or feature) then it'll consistently cause an issue with no way around it (so reloading the game won't fix it) but otherwise there would be no issues.

So I'm leaning this to be an issue with a particular corrupted race asset (unit or building) and the game's not happy about drawing a certain frame of a certain animation. The Dark Dwarf Siege Workshop was the only asset released that had an issue, which got patched in 0.8.9a or b, so I would say any others would have been corrupted in downloading - prompting a need to redownload everything again.

However, as that's such a ball ache to do, I generally would advise against that until we are 100% certain of the issue. As such, I would suggest running some controlled experiments to see if the crash only occurs when playing with / against a certain race or perhaps even with a certain hero.

Do you have patches 0.8.9a and 0.8.9b installed as well?
They do fix a good number of frequent problems, including crashes.

It's found in the chapter "War of the Broken Oath".
I'm not sure exactly where as I've never properly played through this chapter (or any others for that matter).

Nothing yet as there's still too much we must get done before we can think of releasing it.

Work progress fluctuates all the time which is one of the main reasons why we don't like to announce anything too early. This month has been quite slow so far and not as productive as last month.

In 0.9, there's a lot more spells and abilities that require the player to choose a target location to fire the spell at. The new "Fireball" spell is a perfect example of this. It's basically a missile that blows up into Ring Of Fire and the player chooses where the caster will shoot this missile.

But when such spells are set to "auto-cast", then they will be auto-aimed as well.

As for race playstyle uniqueness, that's the biggest thing we're tackling for 0.9 and the reason why 0.9 has taken so long. Every race has undergone a lot of changes to make them play differently to each other.

The popup with the info for Dance of the Dead appears when the mouse cursor is hovering over an icon. So in this image, Griffonskin Boots was "selected" to have its curse broken, so it appears in the box at the bottom, but the mouse cursor was hovering over Dance of the Dead's icon at the time the image was taken.

The popup is so you can quickly see the details of items without needing to click anything.

Oh and using the cheat "iamnotaveggie" cancels the AI - reversing the previous cheat.

The iamaveggie cheat can also be used on other sides and not just your own. Simply insert the side number between iamaveggie and the AI level. So "iamaveggie 3 Passive" will turn the 4th side in game to a passive AI. A side number of 0 refers to the first side, so 15 would refer to the 16th side. Not sure what happens when you use this to change the AI of the neutral side (side 16 - the 17th side).

In 0.9, the iamaveggie cheat has been modified so it can be used to toggle whether the AI also controls the hero. So if you just want to play with your hero but still have everything else taken care of, then you can use a new parameter to do so - leaving the AI to handle your base, army and economy, while you handle the hero.

Some have requested that we turn this into a proper game option and not just be tied to the iamaveggie cheat. So that may be a thing in the future.

Research is the term used for "producing" powerups. Once these powerups have been "produced", you gain their effects for the remainder of the current scenario. Many of which are cumulative. So if you have 1 that says +5 damage and another that also says +5 damage, then they stack and you get +10.

Most powerup descriptions aim to tell you the final effect rather than the current effect. So Weaponsmith 2 will say something like +10 damage, when it actually only gives you +5. It's just that Weaponsmith 1 also gave +5 damage so by the time you get Weaponsmith 2, you end up with +10.

I hope this was the answer you were asking for. I can't think of anything else that would fall under the term "research" in game.

Actually - there's one more - researching keep upgrades in the campaign. For that one, keep upgrades need to be "unlocked" via the campaign world map's Research tab. Once a keep upgrade for the chosen race / faction has been "unlocked" (researched), then all games with that race / faction in the campaign will then be able to level up their keep normally. However, it takes a few campaign days to complete a keep "unlock". Days are counted by playing campaign scenarios, moving around the map or using the "wait" option at every location. You'll also require crowns to pay for these keep unlocks.

Most people speed things along by using the retinue tasks to find crowns and using the wait option at a location to instantly complete the retinue task. Then purchase the keep upgrade and use the wait option once more to instantly complete the keep upgrade.

There's a cheat which has the AI play your side for you, so you can just scroll around the map and watch things happen. That might be what you're after.

When in game, press enter to bring up the multiplayer chat message and type "iamaveggie <ai level>" to have an AI of the specified level take over your side. (So iamaveggie king to have King AI play your side.) If no AI level is specified, then it defaults to Prince.

P.S: Sorry for the late reply - I didn't realise Mod DB logged me out some time ago, so I didn't see any new message notifications as a result.

The interface not responding is tied to a pending Windows update. Restarting your computer to finish off the update usually fixes this. If not, then you'll need to manually install the already-downloaded update.

(Basically, when Windows 10 downloads an update and is ready to install it, it seems to sabotage some legacy components that old games use - preventing them from working correctly. I have 2 games on my computer that suffer this when a Windows update is pending, but restarting my computer always fixes the issue for me.)

Multiplayer connectivity has always been a bit wonky for WBC. But there are some things you can do to work around the issues until we can get them fixed.

Firstly, the IP displayed in game for the host is incorrect. So you'll need to find out the host's actual IP. I use this website: Whatismyipaddress.com
(For the next version, the game no longer displays this IP address.)

When the host is attempting to host over the internet, they very likely will need to port forward. This process to do this varies from router to router so you'll need to look online on how to achieve this with your own router. WBC3 / TPC uses port 23975. So the host will need to have that port open.

Next, once the host has created a room, he should just leave the game alone until the client(s) connect. Also, the host needs to ensure the game doesn't get minimised as that prevents players from joining as well.

And after each multiplayer game, all players should restart their games since it appears some MP stuff doesn't always get cleared properly.

Finally, don't play multiplayer after using the Editor as there as some Editor stuff that isn't cleared when exiting that which disrupts multiplayer. So you'll need to restart the game after using the Editor if you plan on playing multiplayer. (This has been fixed for the next version.)

I find 0.8.9b (the latest released version) to be very stable. It's not perfect, but it's pretty solid - generally running game after game with no issues. What few crashes we have identified are situational and most players will never encounter.

Make sure you are running this version and have installed 0.8.9 full and also 0.8.9a as well (with 0.8.9 full installed first, then 0.8.9a and finally 0.8.9b). Also make sure that all files have gone into the same folder as I believe one of the installers defaults to a different directory to the others. So even if you have installed 0.8.9b after the other 2, it might have not actually been applied.

Hopefully 0.9 won't have any glaring issues on release so we won't need any addition patches for that version (I really hate hotfixes - I really do XD ).

Oh yeah - the popup help now displays 2 resource / mana costs for abilities. The one in brackets is the combined cost needed to use the ability for all selected units, while the other is a single use of the ability.

Finally, clicking the buttons to use the abilities have differing effects depending on whether you used the left mouse button or the right.

Left click has just a single selected unit cast the ability - with the game skipping units already affected by the ability even if it has a radius effect.

Right click has everyone cast it - skipping only units who's ability / spell would not benefit anyone (as in, the caster and all friendly units around him are already affected by the ability / spell).
