Wow - is it just me, or is there a surprising similarity between the users who score a massive 10 out of 10! Majority of them seem to love social media so much that they create a user solely to tell us how great this game is. No blog entry, lack of other games, don't seem to ever be on line. Maybe I'm reading too much into this or maybe people are trying very hard to flog a dead horse.

There has been a real effort to get people to engage with the "not-game" movement. Tale of Tales and Frictional (Amnesia) are really trying to open people's minds to new experiences. Digital entertainment has evolved over the years but it's difficult to reach new audiences who only think in terms of "video games" to be "played". I know because I still find myself referring to them as "games".

It's understandable, albeit frustrating, when people look at a product and say, "What's the point in that?" Thankfully the likes of "Dear Esther" and "The Path" helped people see what is possible with digital entertainment.

Love them or loathe them, Tale of Tales do offer something very different with everything they release and for that they should be applauded. Even more so when the stack is so set against them.

This game is an absolute joy to play! The overall use of minimalist graphics and simple sound design make for very pleasant playing.

It's very sad to see that the people who have given this game a score of 1 or 2 don't appear to own the game. While I understand that people may own the title via another route, if you have indeed played it and hated it that much - please do share those reasons. It's a little unfair to developers that you should destroy a game score just because you don't like the sound of the game.

This "game" has been out quite a while now. I say "game" as it falls into the category of experience really. If you have encountered any of Tale of Tales previous works, you will know that the point of their work is not to create something that can be won. While I understand why people would want a demo I can see how it would be utterly impossible to produce such a thing based on this work. Their are no levels really, just a world to inhabit.

I purchased an enhanced version of Bientôt l'été simply on the strength of their past work. If you want to know the type of experience you are in for, buy "The Path" by the same developers (There is a demo for that by the way).

Unfortunately Bientôt l'été will not make as many ripples in the gaming community as "The Path" did. This is an experience that has had quite a bit of love put into it. It certainly isn't for everyone which is sad in a way. Until we rethink our attitudes towards games as something just to win or complete, a lot of really interesting works will go unnoticed.

Visit Tale-of-tales and see what wonders they have produced. You can even download demo's of some of their previous works. Tale-of-tales will always produce “games” that divide “players”into love or hate camps. It's for that reason that they are one of the most interesting indie studios out there!

Wow. What an experience. Any chance of a second experiment? Well worth the money!

The soundtrack is included as mp3 files, you'll find them in the steam directory for the game. It's by a musician call Philip Glass for the film "Koyaanisqatsi". If you have ever seen the film, you'll probably see why it was used for the game ;)

Thankfully I can tell you that the scares are psychological rather than just full volume scream. It looks like the developer worked very hard getting the audio mix just right. Only been playing a short while but I can honestly say that this is a very immersive experience.

*** Spoiler ***

9.10 - Should it end like that or am I missing something? Fabulous game throughout but I really hope it doesn't just end like that. Feels unresolved :(

Still merits 10/10

Just completed process. I have to say that I enjoyed it a lot. The use of lighting, cut scenes and sound create a sense of urgency that was quite unsettling. There is enough traditional gameplay to keep most people happy.

Are there multiple endings? I take it from the “Inevitable” that there is only one ending, but a number of unusual experiences to explore along the way. Loved the overall style, look forward to seeing what you do next!

Excellent, albeit short, adventure game.
