Hi,

Just wanted to report a bug. It seems that in Multiplayer the player is unable to purchase new cards for the Romanian homecity. As you can do it in single player (And it's completely fleshed out); I assume this is a UI bug?

Would be amazing if we could get a hotfix for it, but either way just wanted to let you know. :)

Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I am part of the Road to 56 Development Team. Would you be interested in giving us permissions to integrate your modification?

We would of course give you full credit; and will respect your decision either way.

If you do choose to give us permissions however, it would be a great help if you could help us look through your code to change the states to ones which fit better with vanilla.

Thanks for reading. Great mod regardless, all the best!

Actually, I plan on moving to Steel Division regardless. It isn't even released yet and I can do more with those tools than I could here.

Given how other mods are left on moddb; you can promote it and give it out privately as much as you please. Nobody can stop in that regard; you just can't post it on here.

Seemingly very interesting. I'm curious to see how Italy gets out of their rut. I notice that there is no mention of Canada. Have they simply followed the same path they did historically?

Just trying to make sure the creator is minding his modding P's and Q's is all.

It's no harm regardless unless he releases something without having permission.

I understand that modding is a hobby and is done in the constraints of time and real life.

If you make your own modifications all the more power to you on your opinion but as someone who does this I cant understand when it stopped being about the mod and started being about **** talking Sturm and painting him as a liar and a cheat.

My problem isn't the frustration itself, it is the decision to voice that directly at a person in the form of insults.

It's "Processing" perfectly fine, yet instead of simply living your life you are all ******** all over the person developing it as if you're entitled to the mod.

You really aren't. Sorry.

Ken chose to give up modding ages ago. Reworking the damage system is doable but takes hours of work which I currently do not have time for.

I have no expertise or knowledge in how to make an installer.

It has nothing to do with which engine I think is better at the end of the day. The modification itself is extremely disorganized and more importantly not optimized.

The reasons players have issues with memory and heavy lag is due to the amount of skins but also their lack of optimization. I have been unable to find a skinner willing to revamp these skins, which means any attempt to reorganize the mod itself is utterly pointless as you would still have major issues with getting the program to run in a stable manner.

While I concur that CoH2 hasn't panned out well (If at all), the individuals I work with in regards to skinning and texturing have no desire to continue work on CoH1, and are at least slightly interested in working on CoH2 if the tools become available.

Mod is in eternal limbo until proper tools are released. When they are (Regardless of when that is) it will be worked on again.

Depends on which divisions you're referring to, but I'm really just waiting for tools on CoH2 at the moment. CoH1 has exhausted it's lifespan sadly.

People who skin have moved on or stopped, and redoing the entire mod would be the only want to fix anything, but without proper skins/models it will still be incredibly buggy/laggy on the engine.

Anywho, the German divisions which are on the Atlantic wall are generally incredibly weak (As they were IRL, not to deter their commitment to the cause but they were overwhelmed and overtaken very quickly).

Panzer Lehr, SS Divisions, 21st Panzer and whatnot are more capable, but I assume the values are off all over the old version as it is, well, old.

Sorry to hear Sturm. Your work is marvelous to say the least. What I continue to not understand is why this "Community" has become so toxic. It's a free modification based on a labor of love for video games and the fusion of history, and I still find it saddening to see that people cannot understand that this isn't a job.

We modders have our own lives outside of the modifications we make, and at the end of the day this is a hobby. It's a passion we do for ourselves in our spare time because we enjoy it. It's honestly incredibly frustrating to see people on the internet try to extract the enjoyment from someones hobby and passion just because they aren't getting something for free at a certain time.

Modders aren't being paid to make this content. They don't have to share it, show it off, release it, promise it, or do much of anything with it. It is purely a hobby which the designer has willingly chosen to give out to the public not only for feedback but in the pursuit of mutual enjoyment for everyone involved.

So before people go to their keyboards and type out how much of a "liar" Sturm is or how much "He owes them", realize that you're so very, very wrong.

Modders don't owe anyone anything. This is a hobby of passion, which I'm sorry to see soured by a community who feels entitled to free content on a regular basis from people who contribute nothing save insults, brash comments and poorly worded whines about not getting what they want at a specific time.

Apologies for coming off in such a way on a public thread, but every now and again I check up on this modification and I see people bludgeoning Sturm with their comments as if they are entitled to do this because their free content isn't finished.

I hope people come to their senses and smarten up already.

Well you're somewhat in luck, as I am the same individual! (Twitchy, that is).

I know which one you are talking of off the top of my head but I don't recall the SVN information myself, and I don't actually know whether the site for it is still up.

As for your request to join as a professional Historian, at the very least we're on the same page in that regard. I always enjoy speaking with other like minded individuals so I wouldn't mind having the extra feedback.

Apologies for the late reply, however; ModDB rarely informs me when someone posts.

I suppose my question to you is: When comes such as Paradox Interactive set their release date to June 6th in commemoration for the Normandy landings, is that too in poor taste?

Or is it simply because it is fresher in our minds that we are upset at one but not the other.

I don't mean to sound offensive in either case, I am more curious. I think trying to start a kickstarter on the same day as Chernobyl's anniversary would be doable, but the original tone of the article itself seemed to be almost...celebrating the loss of life, rather than acknowledging the events grave occurrence in the first place.

I assume i will get a ton of downvotes, but I simply wanted to broach the subject to see where people stand. Not trying to throw fishicuffs one way or the other here.

The Russians having no speech is low on the priority list but I will talk it over and keep a tab on it. After I have condensed all the files for units I can probably start doing smaller things like that.

You should be happy to know that you'll most likely have a lot less to translate in the new version as I will be condensing things down a lot.

My semester is essentially finished on Wednesday.

I will be commencing full-time work on that very evening. I have contacted both my modeler and my skinner with lists containing things I need to revamp the weapons/skins department.

As for the next version's release date; I don't want to give a specific date as I am more or less a one man coding team so if anything interferes with my schedule it can set things back.

I would say at the very earliest the end of this month. However it really depends on how easy it is to revamp the infantry first. If all goes well I can have the Infantry done within a week or so of full work time, and the vehicles are easier than the infantry.

Congratulations Sturm.

This has been a long time wait for many, and I am so elated to see it finally nearing fruition. Hopefully any nay-sayers will be quashed upon release, or at least go back to their hermit holes.

Once again, Congratulations from one modder to another (Also, congratulations on Gates of Hell; sounds like a dream come true to me!)

JudgeAlfred - - 466 comments @ Battle of Bastogne, in a nutshell.

That was in fact how it was typed out to the German Commander. The Americans sent a Colonel to deliver the message which read the exact same thing as depicted in the comic.

This scene is rather famous in regards to the Battle of the Bulge; as it does seem rather "Movie like" in stride.

I'm currently entangled with family issues amongst the already busy school schedule.I expect to begin work on the mod again during the Christmas break at the latest, but I am trying to see about getting back to things earlier.

It's not really my choice or desire to slow down/stop working but it seems everytime I sit down to begin work there is a new problem for me to deal with.

I'll see about posting a general status update this week. The comment is much appreciated either way, thanks.

Just wanted to express my heart felt thanks for doing something Army Men related and sticking too it.

Far too many people let their mods die and it's sad to see such a great concept go to waste in general, what with 3DO being out of business in all. It really brings back the childhood nostalgia! :)
