Hi. We'd really prefer you not do this, especially given you didn't even ask. The name "PUNT: Classic" was already a project in development by Ethosaur and myself at one point in time, with the exact same concept. We didn't stop because we got busy / bored. We stopped because the mechanics were inherently flawed and required a redesign. The puzzles in Reepblue's version stop where they do for the same reason.

Given this, and that all the screenshots you've posted are works not made by yourself, I have a feeling you won't have any interest in compiling your own binaries to remedy this. LunchHouse Software owns the intellectual property to PUNT in its entirety, including "old punt". Please do something that is composed of your own original work, or delete the page. Thanks.

I'm not Reepblue, and have not been developing this game since 2011. I started developing PUNT in 2014, when I had little actual game development experience or team to speak of. Every time I'd get somewhere substantial with PUNT, I'd have improved my skills and vision for the game, and chose to start over due to what was created not meeting my goals.

There's been multiple iterations of PUNT that I've created, with and without help from the Source community, and none of them were really something I could be proud of releasing. They lacked a proper story, structured puzzle campaign, and the gameplay mechanics lacked depth.

That's why in 2018 I rebooted PUNT for the final time, with a structured puzzle campaign and tightened mechanics. Then LunchHouse Software came to exist in 2019, and PUNT began a three year development cycle. That brings us to where we are now.

There will likely be a developer commentary, but we won't be going into depth about the past iterations of the game.

Yes, there will be a level editor in the form of a slightly edited version of Hammer, as well as future Steam Workshop support. There will however be no in game level editor or simpler way to make maps. Intrepid puzzle creators will have to learn Hammer.

We're not using Bullet. We've only experimented with it. We're still using Havok for the time being. Whether that changes in future, we'll see. But it's unlikely we'll stop using Havok for the initial Steam release.

Thanks! As for the contrast, it's intentional. There's a reason for it being that way, but I won't spoil it here.

Neither. It's a custom engine branch distantly based on Portal 2.

Portal 2 is quite pretty at times, so, in my opinion, that's quite high flattery! Thank you :)

We've not been working on it for nearly that long. We're still at it though.

It's going very well, things are wrapping up nicely. We hope to share more once we reach a milestone we're currently aiming for, which will be in the near future.

I'd rather not link to the original, as I feel it's unfinished and poorly represents what we're creating. PUNT is a linear game that would suffer from an early release, as the puzzle solutions would be known on a second playthrough, regardless of further content added. A full release is coming, and the finish line is very much in sight.

While I appreciate the offer for help, we're very selective in developers and have things covered at the moment. Thanks!

We're never posting the source code on Github, sorry. If you mean the versions not made by us, they're not hard to find on google. But honestly they're pretty flawed and unfinished. I'd rather not link to them here.

The Steam release for PUNT is still coming.

All the puzzles are made by us, we're not doing a remake of the original. And it's not really a sequel, given the original was never finished. Our PUNT is a full game which will release for free on Steam.

You can get the original on github.

Thanks! Midway through making Vectronic, Reepblue became dissatisfied with Source and wanted to move to something he could profit from. So he remade it in Leadwerks, then started changing aspects of it, which is pretty much where it's at now.

Yes, we plan on allowing for custom maps made in hammer via the workshop. The game is standalone.

Yes, but we're avoiding communicating it through typical expository dialogue. Environmental storytelling is our focus.
