The Lord of the Nords joined

In Egypt's sandy silence, all alone, Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws The only shadow that the Desert knows:β€” "I am great OZYMANDIAS," saith the stone,"The King of Kings; this mighty City shows"The wonders of my hand."β€” The City's gone,β€” Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose The site of this forgotten Babylon. We wonder,β€”and some Hunter may express Wonder like ours, when thro' the wilderness Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace, He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess What powerful but unrecorded race Once dwelt in that annihilated place

With the liberation of Aleppo there will exist little in the way of mass-hostage style bastions for Daesh and co.

In the space of a year and a bit we've seen a shattered Syrian Arab Army brought back up to speed, and in many cases made more effective at counter-insurgency ops than before. We've seen Pro-government forces bolstered by militias rounded up through smart negotiations and amnesty grants. We've seen Erdogan put on a leash and told to behave, while simultaneously allowed to cut up Kurdish controlled areas in Northern Syria so as to avoid a PKK-YPG unified cross-border state from materializing, (something the Kurds forfeited the day they turned on the SAA in Hasaka).

The VKS has demonstrated its ability to provide close air support and strategic air support for foreign ground troops, to very good effect even though they have a tendency to only ever hit the last bakeries, hospitals, orphanages, and cat sanctuaries in Syria. Oh, and UN aid convoys, because reasons.

The US plans for toppling Assad are now a complete pipe-dream, Trump or no Trump.

ISIS are being strangled at Mosul, while Iraqi-PMU cut-down those attempting to flee across the border into Syria.

Egypt wants a Russian base in Egypt, Iraq wants Russian help in Iraq.
Oh, and the Saudis are going bankrupt, and Russia is now essentially dictating global oil production.

In summary: We're winning lads!
