Hello everyone!
Thank you very much for developing this project.
I'm pretty sure we all here want DNF to be as awesome as it was in that 2001 trailer.
I'm so hyped for it ;)

I have one suggestion about potential improvement of the current audio engine. Check this yt vid Youtube.com
This guy is an audio specialist and has been testing various games with Openal-soft for years (https://github.com/kcat/openal-soft).

In that vid, he points out that:

"The three oddest bugs are:
1. The y-axis seems to be inverted, noticeable at 0:30 and with the rain that starts playing at 2:40.
2. Crouching and walking through metal vents like at 8:50 causes weird things to happen to positional sound.
3. Too many positional sounds playing at once will cause weird audio skips, noticeable at 12:55 and 24:03."

He provides much more information in the vid's description.

I understand that sound might not be a priority for you right now (at the beginning stages of development), but still - it would be cool to have this stuff fixed and improved in the final release.

Good job on the add-on.
You really picked up the best stuff to update while still keeping everything vanilla friendly.
Here are my 3 suggestions:
1) Please, lower the volume for pistol shot and reload. Right now, it's noticeably louder than any other weapon. It sounds like a cannon.
2) Could you include those? Indiedb.com and Indiedb.com. That GUI of Venom's probably needs a bit of tweaking to look right with the rest of the game, but still, it would be cool to get that main menu asset updated too. Those two HD splash screens are also really nice.
3) Now this one is a bit tricky. In the latest [RC] Doom 3: Redux 2.0 build available here Moddb.com, there is a file called:
zpakratio_UI1609(Splash).pk4
It contains loading HD splash screens for ALL levels. Not gonna lie, those are great looking and are vanilla friendly too. That file is already compatible with your add-on, since I've tried it, and it works well - so I guess you might as well include it in the future update.

Actually, the last post from the mod maker is from October 2021, so not that long ago.
Mr. Bunny actively works on it, he just doesn't do many updates.

RE1Remake is an amazing game, but man... Those backgrounds need a bit of an upgrade.

Updates he has shown years ago were out of this world in terms of atmosphere and overall quality.

I've talked with the guy responsible for dhemw3 port.

He can make dhemw3 play Phobos, but first he needs mod's source code (under GPL), only then it's possible to port it to dhemw3.

Are you guys interested in sharing the Phobos source code or is it not a priority for you now?

Hi geX

I tried your mod on dhewm3 source port (latest version from here Github.com) and I got an error after starting from mods menu - Imgur.com

Above that red text there's one more error - couldn't load mod specific tfphobos.dll, defaulting to the base's game library.

Game data from steam, fresh install. No other mods.

Great idea for a mod. Waited for something like this since 2012 :) Can't wait for the next version including bugfixes with some more flashes removed and auto cutscene skip mod included (it's possible with ScriptHook and proper scripts Community.pcgamingwiki.com )

That way - it would be best way to replay this game without headaches for someone who already knows the story and doesn't need cutscenes.
Love the gameplay but hate those flashes (all of them really in cutscenes and in gameplay also - even that flash when you kill somebody and enter bullet time slowmotion, please take it out if you can).

BFG has a couple of graphical differences to the lighting compared to OG game (it's brighter and has more light sources)
(more differences here - Doomwiki.org )

Many users tried various commands to make it like original Doom 3 with commands like for ex. r_overbright 2.0 (or 1.0), r_lightscale 1 (or 2)

Maybe it could have work in a autoexec file or something like that.

since according to pcgamingwiki battlefront 2 already supports controllers but not fully

What I just found out is that the game itself doesn't support resolutions higher than 1920x1200. Other resolutions make the lighting on maps look strange and graphical bugs appears. This cannot be fixed. So no 4K I guess.

4 potential ideas to make the definitive Star Wars Battlefront II Remaster in 2019:

1) Xinput support (makes game playable with xbox one controller)
2) Better splitscreen support (technically this feature already exist on PC by a mod and even kinda works - Swbfgamers.com)
3) Support for 4K with in game options, with proper HUD and font scaling (or NEW font and NEW hud - similar to the original but made with 16:9 ratio in mind)
4) Full integration with BF1 maps (Star Wars Battlefront Conversion Pack), Battlefront Evolved or Improved Sides Mod (whichever is more vanilla friendly looking) and Rezzed Maps by Harrisonfog.

That would be the best of the best - complete, vanilla friendly remaster for this great game, IMHO.

Hi HellBaron89!

Great job with the mod. It's absolute joy to play Rtcw in 2017 with that kind of graphics.

There's only one thing that really sucks. There's still a lot of original, low quality textures next to the great looking remade/remastered ones. They really stick out in a bad way.

For example bricks on the walls in the castle Moddb.com

IMHO this mod would be the best mod ever if it focused more on the replacing all original, lowest quality textures first and then adding new features.

For now, It might work merging some textures from here Rtcw.pro to get overall better quality. Could you consider including them for your mod?

Second thing...How can I change the muzzle flash when firing to the default one for nostalgia purpose ;) What file in pk3s I have to delete or what command I should use?

I'm using latest version of ioquake3 (clean install with quake 3 files from GOG) with your mod and absolutely love it :)

But...there's something wrong when loading and playing certain maps (when I hit ESC to go to menu)

I get these kinds of errors:

hunk_alloc failed on 2882048 (when loading Q3DM4)
hunk_alloc failed on 1378176 (when loading Q3DM6)

some maps play fine, some not play at all.

Using autoexec.cfg with these commands:

/r_swapinterval 0
/r_displayrefresh "144"
/com_maxfps "125"

I tried adding these:
/com_hunkmegs "2048"
/com_soundMegs "256"
/com_zoneMegs "512"

But nothing has changed, errors are still keeping me from playing certain maps.

What should I do?

Hi Clear_strelok :) Your mod looks very promising, but I want to ask about four things.

1) In the end, Are you going to replace "every" low - res texture from vanilla Doom 3 to HD high quality? Is it even possible? I've seen many Doom 3 HD mods but all of them have many missing textures. That was kind of strange to see HD textures next to normal, vanilla low - res textures.

2) What do you plan to do with vanilla models? (enemies, NPC and weapons). For me, this is the most dated element of Doom 3's graphics engine. How will you make them look HD high quality and (at the same time) stay true to the original design ?

3) Can you make your mod compatible with FullShadowsD3? Latest version - 2.3 doom3.gamebanana.com/gamefiles/4221 This mod makes Doom 3 do all lights with full shadows and it's truly awesome and quite impresive. Really looks great and nicely ties to the rest of the game's aesthetic.

4) Can you make your mod compatible with Trent Reznor sound pack?
