I love to create games that I myself would love to play as well. If you are making a game you wouldn't play, why do it at all?

2011 - A Year In Review

Surrealness Blog

Hello! I just thought I'd drop a line and let everyone know what I thought of the big titles I played over the course of the last year! Before I begin, I would just like to say that 2011 was a HUGE year for gaming. It is insane how much technology has evolved in the past 30 or so years and is still improving. And also how many indie developers are starting up and creating new and interesting games like never before. It is very exciting and I look forward to 2012!

Best Games I played in 2011 (Non-2011 Games)

Uncharted 2 - The second game in the series of three was a triumph of technological design and fun gameplay, but what really sold me was the amazing storytelling. Naughty Dog has a gift when it comes to stories. Every game they make seems to be well thought out and well told too. I appreciate that and as long as they keep this up, I will be playing every new game they make! (:

Crysis - This game was a beautifully designed and well balanced expierience that I enjoyed from the beginning all the way to the climax. Very fun and I look forward to playing the sequel!

Lost Planet 2 - Now I know that this game was not a huge success, and there are MANY flaws, but it was still enjoyable nonetheless! Taking down huge baddies with my friends has never felt so satisfying as it did playing this game!

Best Games I played in 2011 (PC)

Battlefield 3 - I thouroughly enjoyed this game because of how deep the mechanics are! I love to snipe and falling from a plane while trying to do so was an expierience I had yet to encounter until now. The maps were widespread and the vehicles many! Overall, one of my favorite games to date!

Best Games I played in 2011 (PS3)

Uncharted 3 - What can I say? A beautiful game. Compelling, thought-provoking, and overall amazing in execution, this IS my all time favorite game. Nathan Drake is a hero that anyone can imagine themselves being. A modern day Indiana Jones, if you will. His last two adventures started out with Nathan and his pals going on adventures at the very beginning, where-as in Drake's Deception, The beginning literally had me shocked as to what had just happened. I think this is where it excels. The twist and turns made the story brilliant and I will forever be thanking Naughty Dog for their masterpiece.

Best Games I played in 2011 (INDIE!!!)

Q.U.B.E. - This game was a remarkable puzzle game with a very clever idea behind it. I loved it and just wish there had been more of a story is all. Looking forward to a sequel? ;D

Stealth Bastard - Incredibly hard and well designed. Could not complete it, but loved it nonetheless!

Renegade X Black Dawn - Now this is a game I had been looking forward to for a while and I was happy about it's release! The graphics were great, sound design good and voice acting was okay, but the thing that got me the most was the particle effects. I loved the hollywood style explosions and the muzzle flashes were enjoyable as well. Overall, a good game.

Gravity Bone - The visual style was extremely entriguing and the story was hilarious in itself. One of my favorite indie games of all time. All that and it's only about 5 minutes long! (:

And I look forward to this list growing increasingly larger next year!

HAVE A GREAT 2012!

The Last Of Us! My list of what is needed to get it right!

Surrealness Blog

Okay, so everyone who knows the gaming industry, or just plain LOVES games, knows that Naughty Dog is coming out with The Last Of Us! By the looks of the trailer, I can already tell that it is going to be as superb, if not more than the Uncharted series! Now here is my list of what I think the developers need to do to create the best expierience of the game:

For it to be amazing:

1. Drawing distances - One of the reasons I was dissapointed in the trailer was that the horizon of the city looked very... rough? I mean, Naughty Dog does a great job with close ups (See below picture) but the environment looks a little hard and contained alot of jaggies. D: I love the incorporation of the plants though! It's a nice, and much needed, contrast of color!(:

2. Parkour - Just plain awsome...

3. Beast Set pieces - Your in a city that has been destroyed, you have alot of choices:P Which leads me to:

4. Moral Choices - One of the big reasons I loved Infamous 2 was the choices that were made throughout the story affected the outcome. Now I know that Sucker Punch could have improved vastly upon it, but if Naughty Dog could implament this somehow, it would be greatly appreciated;D

5. Finally, it needs to have more locations than just a city. Now I'm sure the final game will, but just exploring a single city for too long can become drab at times. Please Naughty Dog, show us the world!!! :D

So, these are just my suggestions. How about you??? (:
