Thanks! Desolation will definitely release on Steam.
Thanks! Desolation will definitely release on Steam.
Thanks! Hardware requirements will be higher than for Portal 2, but not too much higher -- we're trying our best to keep the game performing well on mid-range hardware.
1. No, any reasonably fast GPU is fine.
2. No open playtesting right now. Sorry!
3. No idea. Whenever it's done! Maybe that's in another few years. Who knows?
Yep, we're aiming to have localisation done in what languages we can on release.
Thanks, we appreciate the sentiment :) We don't take donations right now, and right now we intend for the game to be free. Thanks for following and wanting to support the project!
Right now we're shooting for a consistent minimum of 60fps across the whole game on a GTX 1060, on full settings. We're doing our best to make sure the game performs well across a broad range of hardware.
Thanks!! We'll let you know when we know ;P Chances are it'll be a few years.
Thank you! :) We just posted an update a few months ago, so we'll probably be staying quiet for a while as we keep moving forward on other fronts of the game. Thanks for your patience!
Not possible, sorry! Our graphical overhauls aren't a "plug-in" for Portal 2, it's a fundamental re-engineering of the code which can't be separated from the rest of Desolation. Even beyond that, remastering Portal 2's areas with this new lighting engine would take a very long time -- we'd rather spend our time and effort being creative and making something new :)
It's not out yet :) This is just a gameplay teaser. Not sure when it'll come out, it'll still be a long time.
Thank you!! :) We can't wait for you to play it
Work is happening behind the scenes as always :) We're hoping to have an update out by the end of the year. Stay tuned!
Thanks! No idea when we'll release :P It's a volunteer project we work on in our free time, and it has a huge scope, so there's no way of knowing when we'll be done. One day!
Thank you! We were planning for a big update last month, but we decided to delay it for a while until we're really confident in the quality of what we'll be showing. Hopefully some time in the coming months we'll be ready, but we're not setting any dates or deadlines yet. It's gonna be big, and we're really excited to show y'all what we've been cooking up :)
Even if we wanted to do this, it wouldn't be possible to do this. Most of our graphical and shader changes are integrated into the source code, and can't be distributed as a separate module on top of retail Portal 2.
Yes, we've added a new type of gel that lets you stick to walls/ceilings, and also a new type of light bridge that we haven't revealed yet :)
Merci beaucoup pour vos aimables paroles!! Nous sommes heureux que vous l'aimiez :)
The plan right now is for it to be free, but we'll announce if that ever changes later down the line!
Depends what you mean! We're running on our own engine branch that's separate from Portal 2's, and you won't need to have Portal 2 downloaded to play (you'll just need to own it on Steam).
Thank you! The mod will be published on Steam, and we are aiming to have Workshop support.
It's not GLaDOS. It's just bundles of cables.
Thanks for the kind words! We'd like to keep the orange light bridge a surprise -- it's one of the few new gameplay tricks we have up our sleeve, so we have to reveal things sparingly! ;)
Code access for Portal 2/CS:GO isn't very easy to get: lots of NDA's and Valve's a bit fickle about who they respond to for licensing. Probably wouldn't be possible to get it just to mess around with, unfortunately.
There is no collector's edition of Desolation - the postcards are APERTURE SCIENCE INNOVATORS® 1958 Vintage Collector's Edition Promotional Gift Shop Exclusive Postcards™. Sorry if our tweet was misleading! ;)
Our story takes place in the original Portal/Half-Life universe.
Thanks so much! You won't have to worry about that; we also hate these kinds of puzzles that require snap/reflex/ninja-like reactions. We're being very deliberate and intentional in designing each puzzle to be fun and challenging in ways that never require these types of moves. None of our puzzles will require any keyboard-bashing. I definitely appreciate your concerns though; timed puzzles like those you described certainly stem from some not-so-sound design that sneaks its way into a lot of mods!
No guarantees about a demo being released. We don't feel comfortable giving out dates for anything in any case. Everyone on the team has very busy lives; please trust that we're working as hard as we can!
