Well right now crew do have morale and if it gets too low they will leave your ship. Morale goes up and down based on a bunch of things like being paid and how you treat their race.

We are definitely trying to push the political mayhem and backstabbery. :) We also try to let the player get involved in this as much as possible (sabotage, direct attacks on planets/ships, technology stealing, etc).

Personally I think once you have forums that have 80,000+ posts that you still need to talk to your community. The only real difference is that you need a dedicated person doing it.
Well they are both action RPGs if that is what you mean. Personally I think Din's Curse has more depth than Torchlight. Din has more classes with hybrids, a dynamic world, more world interaction, etc.
That's really strange. I'll look into it.
There are many different skins for armor and many models for different weapons, so yes most of the time you will see a change in your character's appearance.
