What, flagyl says really. Move the game folder out of Program Files and startup directly with the exe. No idea why some (currently 2) users have a failure when launching via Desura.

Keep agriculture (food) above population - the locals get unhappy when they are hungry. Also if you conceed territories without fighting for them, the locals think you don't care and get unhappy.

Updated version 1.2 is in the works, might be ready in a week or so.

Demo on indieDB, no idea why Desura didn't transfer it across with the other files.

Dang. Alas that is me out of suggestions, but thanks for jumping through all of those hoops. Obviously I'll note your system specs with the issue in case it occurs to others.

If you do get chance for a play through (via copy/psating the folder), I am always interested in feedback, dev [AT] yorkshirerifles.com

One last thing that I can think of ... in documents/game_save folder - open up the file "scripts/client/prefs.cs" in a text editor (notepad, notepad++, etc) and find the line near the bottom "$pref::YorkshireRifles::noSplash = 0;" and change that zero to a 1.

If that doesn't help, find "$pref::Video::mode = " and change the very last number to a 0.

I've checked startup and it doesn't look like UAC is activating at all, the game isn't attempting to write. If you didn't already, try running the game directly from inside program files without having Desura running and see if you get the crash on startup.

I've not had any similar reports to your issue.

I guess Windows UAC was interfering somehow ... though I did disable logs to make sure that it wouldn't attempt any writing into Program Files.

As for updates ... yep, you'd probably need to move it back into Desura (or you could keep it in Desura and copy a working copy out for play).

Glad it starts anyhow.

I wouldn't have thought the demo save folder would be a problem ... but feel free to delete it to check.

Also do run the DirectX installer in the "DirectX_9_0_c" folder as there is one binary that it needs (but again I would presume that Desura installed it).

Try running the game from "Desura/common/airship-dragoon" without starting Desura. (wildly guessing here)

Also check and see if your AV is interfering - I just ran the game from the Desura directory without Desura and my - updated today - AV (AVG free version) just tried to stop it from running.

Also check that your firewall isn't interfering (another wild guess as it shouldn't try dialing out at all).

Last resort - copy/paste the "airship-dragoon" folder out of program files and stick it elsewhere (documents, base drive C: etc).

Really last resort, contact Desura, as that's about all I can think of at the moment.

I'd usually say update directX and your GPU drivers. However Desura should auto install the full Dx package. Your specs are way above my dev machine which is around 6 years old.

Failing that, in "program files/desura/common/airship dragoon" there is an installer in "DirectX_9_0_c" that you could try.

And failing that, you could try it in a compatibility mode or as an administrator.

Also check in your documents and see whether there is a folder called "AirShipDragoon_GameSave" has been created.

Demo on indieDB. It's a single tactical battle on medium settings, but more than enough for you to decide whether you like the gameplay or not.

Airship Dragoon is to be released on Desura on the 14th of October 2013.
Airship Dragoon is an X-Com Style Turn-based Steampunk Squad Tactics and Global Strategy.

And it was all modeled and animated in good old Blender!
